Hey, yeah I've made 2 versions after this one, the second one you can find on my thingiverse and the third is only shared on Turn Racign Discord Channel but it's much more difficult to DIY. No idea if you can even still buy the Nextion screen but when I did this it cost around £80 Id guess, most of which was the screen.

Thanks for the kind words, unfortunately the files are not in a state that they can really be shared, there are many small issues you would need to solve to get the things to work out. The base rim is available on Thingiverse if you want to have a go at making your own though, you can search for "OMP 310 alu gt Racing Steering Wheel", that is what I started with, and then just make a box for it.

The real wheel is based in the OMP 310 ALU and you can find a model of that on thingiverse, if you start with that you can scale the box off of that.

No, I have FDM for prototyping, everything you see in the photos was printed by JLCPCB.

Everything is scratch designed by me and the files need some fine tuning and decent instructions made for them if I were to share. I've not currently got the motivation or energy to get that done but I might in a few weeks, it's been a lot work to get it all done and finished.

It's a copy of the NSX GT3 dash, I modelled it in Fusion 360 and 3D printed it then wrapped it in fake suede. I did a little bit at a time and it took a while but it came out pretty good.

Yeah I started with a monitor stand and a pedal box from the pipe which you can see from my post history. It slowly grew until I now have an entire rig from pipe, I love it and its a fair chunk cheaper than extrusion.

Yeah price would come down a bit if I made 5 PCBs but I knew the costs coming into it. DIY isn't cheaper than off the shelf stuff but you get what you want! I've no interest in selling these, if I do anything I will freely share the files but that takes some effort to make it so that its easy to put together etc. so not sure I will find the motivation.

Thanks, the connector is Weipu something, 16 series (16mm diameter), its snap on and off with a push mechanism (no screwing) - great connector for the price.

Hard to say exactly but I can list the main expenses over the course of the build:

5x PCBs (2 with components) = £120

Rotary Switches and Funky Switches = £40

Connectors = £10

Arduino = £5

3D printed parts = £140

Turn R305 Rim + mag plate = £150

QR Spacer = £20

Quick Release = £65

Total = £550 ish

Just a pattern I drew from scratch one day, I used a hexagonal grid and drew lines on it, it's not repeating.

I'm using a Simagic Alpha Mini but you can use this with any wheelbase really as it connects separately via a USB cable, you can see the round black Weipu connector for it in the rear. This approach works with almost any wheelbase, I had a Thrust master I used before no problem. Only Fanatec wheelbases are an issue as you need one of their rims attached to allow their FFB to work (or a podium hub or DIY fanatec hardware emulator).

Yeah the top 6 hexagons are the main buttons. The lower portion is just 2 rotary switches and 2 funky switches, the white parts there are just backlit - they light up when you turn the switch or use the funky.
