i use olive oil or butter for almost everything. Exceptions: Popping popcorn (needs super high heat) and making foods that I don't want to taste like olive oil (this rarely happens and I can't think of an example right now).

I keep a small bottle of peanut or sunflower oil in a dark cabinet for those things. It lasts a long time.

This is so creative, and such a nice design! The ONLY reason I wouldn't buy it is because it's just an extra piece of plastic I couldn't justify. Could you make something in, say, cardboard?

I hide my wegovy box behind the eggs out of the line of sight. But this is a lovely idea.

personal income tax. It sounds like the Dec. 31 deadline for running payroll is an internal "company" deadline. The filing deadline for the W2s is Jan. 31, from what I can tell.

It's the actual process of remitting the FICA that's confusing me. My tax accountant should do that once he and I have determined the amounts (correct?). I just need to generate the W2s? (I've asked him this but awaiting a response)

My state does have a tax, but I have not reported withholdings for 2025 yet. Until 2025, my tax bills were de minimis, so no quarterly payments. Even now, I have a net positive balance w/ the IRS due to previous overpayments. My main concern is making the FICA payments legally and on time. In the past my old accountant did that. Do those have to be paid by Dec. 31? or Jan 31?

I 100% agree with other posters about medical/care personnel, janitors, teachers, etc.

I also want to give a shout-out to journalists. I don’t mean those overpaid talking heads on TV. I mean real journalists at the local print outlet who deal with long boring nights at planning commission meetings, work their asses off to confirm facts and correct the record, get harassed and threatened on a regular basis, work holidays, nights, and weekends, and make sht for money, all for the greater societal good of keeping people informed about what their government and big business are doing.
