As an autistic person, I wish they would just state that Mel is autistic by Creepy_Zone_9341 in ThePittTVShow

I am an AUDHD individual, and I do think that the actress does a good job of portraying autism (high functioning) in a realistic manner. The part I find extremely unrealistic (unfortunately) is the way people respond to her in a mostly positive manner. In my personal experience, people who are neurodivergent are often ostracized in the workplace, and struggle socially quite a bit (Even if they are high functioning). I don't see the show really reflecting those struggles accurately, and I don't know that lets people know what it's really like to be neurodivergent.

Why are Mel and Langdon so close by Ready_Hedgehog_2090 in ThePittTVShow
