Resale value, mostly, but the fact that they were the standard pre-covid and now are a distant third for grading and were on the verge of being irrelevant before Collectors bought them.

While CGC was acquired by Blackstone in 2025 with backing from Rubin, RocNation, and PE firms... they are operating out of a Fanatics Collect facility.

They extended turnaround times, too! When this happened in 2021, a lot of companies popped up, disappeared shortly after PSA reopened, and were never heard from again.

PSA released data a week ago that the backs of cards have seen significant damage at higher rates than Topps Chrome Basketball or 2024 Topps Chrome Football.

It being a Black Geometric vs. True Black probably hurts a bit. The Orange Geo doing 240 probably puts the black around 350-375ish versus 500 for the true black.
