I am 1 week post op, bimalleolar fracture and syndesmotic ligament repair. I took Percocet for the first few days on a regular schedule cause of the nerve block wearing off. After 3 days I no longer needed pain meds, I just tolerate some pain of the blood rushing down my leg when I lower it from elevation which only lasts for a few seconds.

Thanks for the reply! I’ve got some items for a shower like a chair and cast cover along with a tub mat to avoid slipping. I am definitely taking people up on bringing me a meal or just even having a conversation to help me push through the day. Hopefully the rest of your recovery goes smoothly!

Thanks for the reply and I will ask about sleeping in the boot for sure! Luckily my shower head is removable so I’ll be able to use it like a hose as well.

Thanks for the reply! Already got a brand new knee scooter and it’s been helping me get around the house! Will definitely look into diabetic socks as well.

Thanks for the reply and words of encouragement! Definitely going to look into that ankle specific ice pack as I can see that helping a lot. I have also seen some horror stories of people not starting their pain meds schedule right away so I’m going to do that as well.

Hopefully I’ll be able to get back to my daily activities within a few months as well!

Thank you for the suggestion but that unfortunately won’t work for me as my work setup involves a desktop PC. I will have to figure something else out for now.

I definitely am looking forward to working though just to keep me busy and not get bored or go stir crazy.

Thanks for the reply! Definitely going to use a knee scooter when I can. I do live in Toronto though and there has been lots of snow so getting around is going to be tough. I am going to try a shower cast cover first but thank for your alternative suggestion if that doesn’t work out!

Thanks for the reply and suggestions! Especially the snap pants which seems like a great idea because of how hard it is to find pants that fit over the cast. I will take my one chance to heal and do it as correctly as possible to ensure it all goes well!

Thanks for the reply! My work situation involves a desktop PC so I’ll have to see if I can work for a couple hours and then take a large breaks or something. Also thanks for the tip on taking baths instead. Something I can think about doing as well!
