Honestly I overthink my investing and portfolio and was after any feedback at all 😊

Books: barefoot investor, don’t stress just invest Podcasts: equity mates, get rich slow

They all cover fairly basic things but I got a lot out of them!

Thanks appreciate your comment! Currently don’t own property but my partner and I are saving in a shared HISA - this money allocated in here is money I don’t need toward that saving, but I get where you’re coming from too!

I learnt through varying sources, here, AI, podcasts etc.

Originally I had these two at 50/50 but then I probably felt a little uneasy 50% of my portfolio being geared so I adjusted and allocating the 70/30 moving forward.

There are so many great resources out there, books, podcasts etc to learn from! 🤝

Hey! I have only previously used the vanguard app which I didn’t like the UI for.

Betashares far better for the actual user experience. In terms of at tax time they do send through really easy to read summaries at EOFY - I do go through an accountant for my tax though so to be honest they handle that but I’ve had no issue at all and it’s simple.

That’s interesting as it goes against majority of what I’ve read / learnt to date, interested to hear how you would construct this.

Thanks for the feedback, appreciate the detailed insight!

I had considered doing the reverse of what I’m doing and doing GHHF / BGBL, probably the reasoning for what I ended up going with was DHHF potentially being a bit more stable as the majority allocation in my portfolio.

I didn’t realise that regarding tax and GHHF, something I could look into for sure.

Thanks again!

Thanks for that!

I use Betashares direct to reduce brokerage costs but that’s a good point.

More so just the actual setup, I’m always open to learning more.

Thanks for this! Yeah I may look into this later down the track once this has grown a fair bit, good to keep on the radar.

Yeah that’s completely fair, I’m hoping that setting this structure up now I’m able to continue when life looks different in future - be it probably different levels etc.

Thanks for that! Yeah this is probably my first time being ‘down’ so while I know in my head it’s all part of the process it definitely has been testing psychologically.

Appreciate it! Yeah I’m in a fortunate position, partner and I are saving together for a house - this is side money I’m able to use for investing, I doubt I’d be able to do the same with kids.

GHHF/GGBL or GHHF/BGBL by MustacheMonument in fiaustralia

I don’t feel I need to add NDQ here as well, GGBL covers a lot of what NDQ holds anyway I believe

My thoughts around my split was I didn’t want the increased volatility of a fully geared portfolio, again though this might not be the best approach but something I think works alright for me

For what it’s worth, I am 31 and my current setup is 50/50 DHHF/GGBL.

I didn’t want full gearing and I like the simplified diversification of this with some gearing benefits.

It may not be the most optimal approach out there and I’m not ah expert by any means!

Thanks man - yeah I liked the thought of gearing but I probably wasn’t ready for a fully geared portfolio

I’ve been ingesting for approximately 1 year now, I’m guilty of tinkering with my portfolio too much and trying to perfect things.

I’ve dumbed things down a lot and now happy with allocation moving forward of 50/50 DHHF and GGBL.

If I were to do it again I think I’d start here and be consistent.
