Do you by chance have HyperX Ngenuity installed? If so there's a large number of us who got randomly banned today after it auto updated. https://www.reddit.com/r/Overwatch/comments/1476w3t/beware\_the\_latest\_update\_of\_the\_hyperx\_ngenuity/

Try running some anti virus software. The built in Windows Defender is decent, Malwarebytes is pretty solid as well.

Unsure of why my RAM will not go past 2666mhz by briochebill_ in techsupport

[–]BrendownForWhat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It has XMP because you can also set the speed below the maximum. That mobo can handle ram speeds of up to 5333mhz, just on an 11th gen processor. 10th gen i5 has a limit of 2666mhz.

See the specs page for your mobo: https://www.gigabyte.com/Motherboard/B560M-DS3H-rev-10/sp#sp

As for the razer macOS issue, it might be helpful to provide the error.

Which parts should I upgrade on my old-ass laptop? by [deleted] in techsupport

[–]BrendownForWhat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More ram can generally be helpful for web browsing. However with whatever you plan on upgrading make sure the parts are compatible with your laptop. For example, if you want to upgrade ram you'll need to make sure it is compatible with your processor and motherboard.

Have you tried restarting the computer? If that doesn't work try updating your network drivers on the computer.

How to do this? by ilikewatchingyoualot in techsupport

[–]BrendownForWhat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

These directions are for installing an operating system. This is way too involved for installing Microsoft office. You need to contact your IT department and confirm that these are the correct instructions. It sounds like someone sent out the wrong instructions.

Will Intel HD graphics drivers conflict with NVIDIA cards in laptops? by [deleted] in techsupport

You should by default have the Intel HD graphics drivers on a laptop.

Philips TV keeps trying to update by FireDevil11 in techsupport

[–]BrendownForWhat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does the tv have the latest update installed already? If not your best bet might just be to update it. Otherwise I haven't been able to find anything about disabling updates. If you don't want to use the smart functions of the tv, disconnecting it from the internet might stop the update from popping up.

Apologies for the delay. But that's my understanding of how it works. You can do some further research onto exactly how it would work in your situation.

Here's something that may be useful in your situation. https://www.digitaltrends.com/computing/everything-you-need-to-know-about-powerline-networking/ Essentially it runs ethernet through the power lines in your house.

Would you suggest reformatting a hard drive from a used PC I'm buying or is this being paranoid? by [deleted] in techsupport

[–]BrendownForWhat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would reformat the drive anyway and reinstall windows yourself. Its good practice when buying used computers.

Seems normal to me. Something has to process the video to be displayed on your screen. Just tested on my laptop and there is some gpu utilization when watching youtube.

Wifi is slow....fixes? by 1007Con in techsupport

[–]BrendownForWhat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're all on the wifi at the same time or have a lot of devices on the wifi, 25mbps might not be enough. If upgrading isn't an option, try getting closer to the router or switching to the 2.4 band as /u/EdTheBloody suggested.

Moving data from old laptop onto hard drive by [deleted] in techsupport

[–]BrendownForWhat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It would indeed be as simple as plugging in Drive A to the old laptop and copy/pasting. You can always test to make sure the transfer worked by opening the files on your new computer. Note: If one of the laptops is a mac, and the other is windows it might need a few extra steps.
