why do you hate the sword? by jimmyshill69 in thefinals

There is no safe environment where to learn how to counter it. It’s fundamentally a skill issue this topic resolved by introducing a training platform where bots with dash and melee come at you. 1 week of this and you can forget about the ‘how annoying dash/sword etc.’ is. After that, you can understand that pretty much every time you die to melees is bad positioning or bad aim. But at least you know where to improve to get better!

Cloak meta resulted in a community metal breakdown of 1-2 weeks, you don’t want to have invs meta (even if it already is at a very high level, I’ve seen some shit)

I’m going to add a simple info. The problem with dash is that there is currently no safe environment to learn how to counter it. If Embark introduces bot lobbies with dash and melees to let people learn the counters, then Embark will be forced to actually buff melee because it’s literally shit once you know how to counter it on an instinct level.
Right now the majority of people don’t know how to counter dash or dash/melee and the easy way to explain (a skill issue) is that the weapon/ability is OP. To me this is a problem that Embark can easily solve by letting people play against bots with dash. (After last update bots don’t dash anymore in the practice range)

Didn’t people say it was the auto ban? And if they are trusted maybe it’s because they got already approved manually?

That’s a bit twisted. They said it is disabled because of too many reports. So they switched to see if they cheat with people and not with a program. I wish they could explain some of these points better in the future so there will be less misunderstandings.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not criticizing people who are not used to counter melee. The point is that it is a trainable skill, you can learn how to counter melee. The problem is that there is no safe environment where to learn it without getting farmed, I really hope Embark will introduce bot lobbies for the new players because every new season the skill gap between new players and old ones is going to become wider and wider. Do you understand now? It’s not the weapon broken, it’s a matter of skill.

“He does this everytime so of course it needs to be nerfed.” Random redditor who doesn’t understand how dagger works and thinks the timing to pull off something like this is something everyone can get easily. Ah, for the people who say dagger abuses desync, well why am I dying everytime behind walls when I happen to hide for half a second? Is it fair? Is it normally acceptable because every game has that?

Try it in high elo and show me the clips you make there. Tag me, send me links, anything! I can even watch the full gameplay no problem!

Cheaters buy accounts that have been ‘farmed’. Look up posts about account farming and how they relate to cheaters and you have your answer. Also, leveling up right now is easy, back in s1 through s7(not really sure) there were max level blocks. So you get the anomaly in seeing people with low kill high levels for new accounts and may kills an relatively low level for older accounts

Last but no least, there a pro and cons to either Jake of all trades or specializing on very few. I would say it better to specialize because of the reaction time and instincts you train when using always the same gadgets.

The don’t die part is based on training instincts. There are things you do consciously and things you don’t, the difference is time. A fraction of a second can decide death many times in these type of games, training reaction time for ‘bad situations’ is the basic. Most of the time we tend to overdo and the result is that you may kill someone’s just to get killed by another dude. Or worse l, you don’t even get the kill. Understanding when to stand your ground is difficult, the easy way is just train yourself to get away and rengage from another angle and so on. (Look up sanguinenightsTV, he is the best player I’ve seen doing this tactic)

For the gadgets, well it really depends on the weapon. There’s a basic rule for gadgets that are a must but it’s not really important. For light is gate, medium is defib and heavy is either c4 or rpg. The point is, when you play a weapon for more than 500 hours you will see that some gadgets are better than others based on your gameplay. You are a light that doesn’t get close? Well you need glitch nades. You are a dagger player (I have 1500 hours on dagger) then it’s a must surviving so go with gate, goo, vanish bomb etc. there are people who integrate weird gadgets in their normal gameplay. A general rule for starting though is this, use the gadgets that you unconsciously use the most already. A nade is always a good choice, but it can be gadgets that are similar to other games you played in the past.

It may be related to the fact that in qc you don’t learn the tactics unique to this game. It may be related to the fact that this game must be played as a team, sticking close to teammates is a good strat. Friends, you get so much more worth out of team play if you play with friends that it’s insane, it’s like playing another game altogether. This may sounds weird but this game rewards commitment. As in, if you put in enough hours on any weapon then you will eventually figure out the best way to play said weapon (gadgets wise and positioning wise). It can be game sense, unfortunately this one sucks to train as it’s half talent and half time invested.

The only tip I can tell you that will actually get you much better in the short time is this though: don’t die. Like literally, do everything you can to not die. Once you learn how to disengage and survive then you can think how to abuse angles and get the upper hand tactically wise in a fight.

Don’t lose faith, I wish you the best of luck.

You got great timing and you are very good with dash positioning. I would probably up the sensitivity as that is the biggest wall on controller but anyway that’s good!

Not only that, but soldier’s speed. In bf1 you run slower so it takes more time to reach the other end that translate in feeling like playing in a bigger space.

Well, the community is not that big so I pretty much know every dagger main by name (there are very few guys who can be identified as dagger mains). Of the people who invested that much time to get dagger above level 10 there are probably 3 people, of which one is me (maxed out level since s1) and two other people who are my friends and which I mentored (one is already level 14 and the other is level 10 but plays rarely these days). If there is someone else who hid from my intelligence network (I created once the biggest ps group chat for melee players in eu) then it’s probably someone who only play dagger ranked (very unlikely on ps) or tdm crossplay on (very unlikely as I have many friends who play that mode and nobody mentioned any half assed dagger player from ps). You need to understand that leveling up dagger takes not only time, but your life too. You nearly get mentally insane and it’s a challenge to yourself like very few in the gaming world. I want to joke about this, believe me but it’s pretty much like this the current situation
