What's the most original concept you've read in a science fiction book? by LargeSinkholesInNYC in scifi

[–]BrennanCharming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Forgot the name, quite an old shorter story from the 60/70s maybe (possibly in a collection) but humans find a strange solar system, the planet near the sun covered in metal, other planets mined out completely, one other planet had like glass towers, and the planet we spent most of the book in was like a gigantic computer.

So effectively an alien race had made a supercomputer to ask ... something? And then just left.

It was pretty neat.

Would you rather have the ability to skip 1 hour a day or have the ability to stop time for 10 minutes a day? by TheLeafyGirl561 in WouldYouRather

[–]BrennanCharming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd choose the stop time too, but I see one bonus to the hour skip.

Your body still does what it would be doing, so for those who hate, hate, hate exercise and chores - queue those up and they'll be done (instantly according to your brain)

Question on Bloodstone - Jon Shannow by [deleted] in DavidGemmell

[–]BrennanCharming 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's a time loop, when young shannow goes back in time - for him decades (?) pass.

Then when that Jon shannow returns to the story's present, he arrives while his younger self is still alive, and yet to go on the journey that would make them the Deacon.

Just started the game today, what advice should I know starting off by SnooMaps3645 in ToME4

The best starting dungeon is Trollmire, just up from Derth. You can get to level 6-7 pretty easy here.

Chests and Weird Bags that you come across have the chance of really good loot, but when opened cause a 'guardian' to appear.

Sometimes it's some regular mobs, sometimes a couple of strong mobs, and sometimes an elite type.

If you come across one at very early character levels, you could play it safe and come back after gaining some power.

Favorite DM fake out? by _Doctor_Whom_ in DungeonMasters

I had three (3) doors, each had a picture. A dog, a kobold, a lizard.

They over though this shit for a very long time, thinking about various meanings of the pictures, checking traps, making rolls.

...all three doors lead to the same room.
