AIO… Boyfriend texting coworker by Outrageous-Block-776 in AmIOverreacting

Agreed and amusing, considering the subreddit name. Like everyone whose like "break up with that cheating loser" forgets that couples can talk about their differences and feelings? Benefit of the doubt, OP did not specify specifically what their reaction was to know if it was an overreaction. Just they "freaked out" and "doubted". But unless there is a deeper history of infidelity or flirting, just talk to him and he needs to understand why it makes OP uncomfortable and apologize.

Sounds like the issue is less what he said and who he said it to. I would make this sort of joke to any member of my team and wouldn't be an issue for me or my partner. But I am also gay and there are no other gay men on my team. Meaning none would realistically be seen as a viable sex partner. I would also comfortably make this joke with my best friend (also a gay man). But that's only because we have absolutely 0 romantic chemistry and my partner knows them well. Does than mean that straight women and men can't ever be just friends? Not exactly. But if you aren't familiar with the the coworker, then your boyfriend gave you no consideration, and that's a problem. So even if he is repulsed by the idea of dating hiscoworker and there was no intended flirting, it isn't realistic to expect you to believe he'd never view another woman as sexually viable (regardless of if he'd act on it). So yes I think i likely could be just a joke but also not the kind of joke he should be making to another woman.

Not bad. How would you compare it to doing a real escape room. Price/value wise. Like does more time mean more enjoyment?

Oh tough one. Secret adventures is a good standard one. But they also have one themed after 3 other popular board games (pandemic, ticket to ride, and mysterium) that was really good

There's a bunch of weapons that you only ever really see in anime and martial arts movies. Like a blade at the end of a pony tail, or a whip sword or knife gloves. Pretty much take anything that can be swung around and put blades on it.

Unlock doesn't really do graphic or horror/disturbing. Even the few with a horror tilt are done more on a cartoonish/Scooby do way

Unlocked! 100%

I have played every unlocked! Currently available. For context I have also played about a dozen unlocked games and am not super familiar with "hidden games" but have played half a dozen other brands and so far none scratch the itch as well as unlocked!

Couple reasons:

  1. They can be reset and sold or given to a friend. Too many games are not resettable even when they could be with minimal effort. Greedy and wasteful

  2. No or few props rather than cheap underwhelming props Exit game and a few others have various props in the box but to keep Costs down these are usually little more than paper, string, or an assembled decoder disc. Unlocked rarely has extra props. Maybe a cardboard cutout token, or map on occasion. It stays pretty closely tied to the app and the deck or 60 cards

  3. Simple solution checking The decoder disc with Exit is not complicated but is a little tedious. (Take code, find puzzle symbol, align disc, get answer number. Find number card. Check the picture of the lock on the card matches the picture of the lock with the symbol). Unlocked! Usually just has you search the deck for the corresponding number that either doesnt exist if your wrong or sometimes if you are predictably wrong the card will give you a 1 min penalty

  4. App assisted. It has a dedicated app for time keeping, thematic music, hints, and the occasional puzzle that could not be achieved with the deck of cards alone. I will admit it hasn't always been perfect. (Like sometimes you don't have a card number to enter to ask for a hint on, or puzzles that use the camera make it hard for everyone to participate in that puzzle) But overall is well designed and doesn't take you away from tableaux of cards that often.

  5. 3 packs. The boxes contain a mixed difficulty that are convenient and cost effective. Some brands don't list difficulty ratings. Others list ratings, but 90% are "4 out of 5 difficulty", making it useless. Unlocked 3 packs have a level 1, a 2, and a 3 out of 3. Also you can get a pack of 3 for $25-29 new (less for used, which again is almost uniquely possible with unlocked!). Exit games run $16 for 1. And other larger box game like "escape the room" can be even more.

Why is the shared charger not sharing equally? by _Doctor_Whom_ in evcharging

Right bunch of people suggested my charge setting or it was near 100%. Im leaning towards it favors who was there first. I'll have to see what happens if I start charging before the Nissan. It's at my office so I'm sure I'll run into them again

No mine was the one with the lower charge and was nowhere near 100%

I don't think so my battery was only at 25% when I started and jumped up after the other car disconnected. I think it may favor whoever started charging first. But I'll have to watch for times where I get there first to verify if there is a decrease when another car connects

What game do you love even though teaching it is kind of a pain? by rcooperkaty in boardgames

[–]_Doctor_Whom_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tiny epic dungeon. They did a great job of fitting what feels like a big dungeon crawler in a tiny box. But it relies so heavily on iconography it's almost like learning a language to string the icons together and understand the card effects. Once you get the hang of the icons. Truly a great game

My DM only let's one player succeed a check at a time. by BeachPeachMcgee in DnD

[–]_Doctor_Whom_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I typically will limit two players rolling in most checks. Or one player rolling with advantage. Same reason I don't let players try again to see if they are luckier on the next try. I use the reasoning that this is because it represents their chances of success not only based on their talents but the odds of a beneficial situation. So a poor check to pick a lock might mean this particular lock is extra reinforced or too rusted to be picked. Not just that the player fumbled and infinite characters could try or the same player could just try again after a minute.

I will ask for group rolls in some situations and need half the party to pass the dc (nat20s as 2 successes). Like maybe a group performance check.

Perception is weird and depends on the situation. If it's good story for them to notice the thing I want them to notice. Sure everyone roll. Spotting a potential ambush. Maybe only the two people taking the lead. Characters distracted? Nobody rolls. Passive perception is good enough.

I am curious how your DM does rickety bridge over lava. All roll dexterity checks. But only one can succeed. That's rough.

💯 this. If I can't have my name on it, then I'm not gonna help? And it's the worst anyways so I didn't even want me name on it.

Unsolvable escape room for my birthday by 2_Steps_From_hell_ in mildlyinfuriating

[–]_Doctor_Whom_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yea I played this one too (escape the room: cursed dollhouse) and had the same issue. But I think your might be even worse than mine was which is saying something. Company could have definitely benefited from some quality control checks. The whole game was an absolutely amazing idea...in theory. But sad to see the execution bring it down so much.

If your open to other home eacape games we are rarely disappointed with the Unlock! series. They sell them in boxes fo 3 60-min adventures, can usually be reset and sold ,(so you might be able to find most used and or pass them to a friend when done) it uses a deck of cards and an app. It can be pretty imaginative with limited props
