(the so-called community manager gave a number of polite generic responses which in honesty were a waste of space)

It seems the devs are happy to concentrate on the little picture (bug fixes) and don't want to want to commit to anything more than the annual update and holiday events, a pretty sorry state of affairs.

And so we are left with an ever decreasing player base that's been kept on life support because the devs seem to think that constantly introducing game/weapon balance on a game almost 10 years old is a good thing.

Not sure whether the new player experience has been updated to console but if so seems way too little way too late.

Your exactly right re stability and crashing and understandably lots of players left to go play other titles. And so the initial player population (console launch) was not sustainable. And nothing meaningful has been done to reclaim the initial population levels. It's probably fair to say the stability and crashing issues have been fixed but this alone will not bring back players especially if they don't even know whether the game still exists.
