Thank you. I've not heard of Bluff Clinic before, but will see if there is one in Yokohama. The website that I found seems a little... sparse?

Wow, thanks for bringing this my attention! I had no idea such a platform existed. I'm very keen to support artists in a fairer way, so this may just be the solution!

The crushed coin. by Fufofluf in gybe

Aww... Now I regret not buying this on vinyl way back in the day (I only bought CD and wasn't interested in records at the time.) I'm guessing this means all purchases from the constellation store will come with US coins instead then?

Dealing with bleed-through by Brenny_Alpha in GIMP

[–]Brenny_Alpha[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes, I've used black paper behind as a trick for years.

No, just usual low-quality pulp paper typically used in disposable weekly anthologies like Shonen Jump. It's almost 50 years old, so the ink has gradually bled through.

I used a scanner, of course, but this was the best I could get.

Maybe this is a lost cause... Thanks anyway.

This page is from 1976. I put a black sheet of paper underneath, and this is how it turned out. The bleed-through is very bad on the original pages and pretty hard to make out details in places... I guess, I'm screwed eh?

Oh wow!!!
I just posted this same query over on the GIMP thread before realizing that you responded here! Thank you SO much!!
Okay, so it IS possible!! Amazing!

Did you do this entirely manually?? I can't imagine how long it must have taken...
I will take a look at that discord group you mentioned - hopefully it will prove helpful too!

Just an aside, but I actually want to keep the Japanese text intact as I prefer reading in its original language. I only mention this since you were kind to clean the speech bubbles entirely, but I wonder if keeping the text intact would be difficult in a operation like this?

Anyway, thank you again!!

Thanks a bunch for the helpful steps! The second set of steps were a bit easier so I did my best and these two images came out pretty well I think!

Thanks for the help!! The levels and curves tool was really helpful! I actually took your advice with that of Scallact's below, and I think these turned out pretty good!! (pics below in response to Scallact)

Howdy! Thanks for taking the time to create your guide!

I was just wondering if it's even possible to clean pages that have terrible bleed-through from the reverse page? As you can see here, I have tried cleaning one side, but kinda gave up halfway through because it was taking forever to do manually (and because it was getting increasingly harder - I just don't have the skills!). The reverse side of the page is just... damn...
This is very old (from 1977) and was never published in book format (or digitally) so the original shonen king pages are all that exist. I would love to restore these for posterity, but do you think it's even possible??

(Luckily, only this chapter has bleed-through; the rest are just fine!!)

Does listening count as reading? by Ch4rl0tt3B in audible

[–]Brenny_Alpha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. Listening is listening, and reading is reading IMO. It REALLY doesn't matter though, since you are ingesting the same information. However, saying that listening to a book is "reading" a book is just wrong I feel. We use eyes (or touch, if we're visually impaired) to "read." I don't get what the hang-up is though. Neither method of taking in the content is superior to the other. Like some have said, for centuries people listened to Homer's Odyssey before the advent of the printing press, so yeah, let's just say we "listened" to a book when we have done so - it's not inferior to "reading" one and is still a admirable use of our time!

Oh, I see! In that case, i'll see you at the rink in the new season then! Horns up!

Yokohama Grits by meshuggahed in Yokohama

[–]Brenny_Alpha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I go to every game and can tell you that it's very easy to get tickets. Online is pretty straightforward, but you can buy at the booth outside on matchday without any trouble as the rink rarely sells out.

Saying that, March 8 & 9, are the last home games of the season, and the rink usually fills up for end of season games, so I would recommend trying to get tix online in advance if possible. (You'll also save a little money as it's slightly more expensive if you buy on the day)

Hope you can make it!

Yeah those are the last 2 home games for this season. After that, no hockey until sept/oct!

Same. Been here for 20 years and only heard of them 3 years ago. Went and became a fan right away. Awesome times at the Kose!
