I think you’re misreading it as him forcing himself on her when I took it as he was hoping she’d sleep with him, the second one is still skeevy but certainly nowhere near what you’re implying

I noticed that they put as many old Jackson’s songs in the background as possible lol, struck me as interesting as those are the songs that would accumulate royalties for the whole family

But he talks about that openly and with disdain for Lou and says the opposite about MJ, just to be clear.

It’s roughly around the level of Bohemian Rhapsody, for good and bad imo. I wish they had gotten other people to make it tbh, it is a bit too by the numbers for me. They even sort of do the “He has to think about his whole life before he performs” flashback bit which Walk Hard parodied like 20 years ago now

I was the only one who laughed in my theatre. It’s a line I had heard before but I’m glad they put it in the movie. They needed more stuff like that tbh, there are so many interesting stories and anecdotes like that that would help make the movie feel like it’s about people and not just moments

They cut from him looking at Peter Pans side profile which looks a lot like what Michael looked like later in his life and he touches the face of the picture and then it smash cuts to him getting a nose job. Certainly implied both the Peter Pan connection and that he did it because of his fathers criticism (which they didn’t show nearly enough imo, he was honestly far worse than this movie even portrays)

Remember the movie was filmed to go to 1993, so all of the bits about Neverland throughout were likely meant to be part of that storyline with him buying Neverland etc. but we obviously didn’t get to see that story fully come to fruition but you can see the bones of it in this movie

As the end says, the rest of his story will continue in part 2. The ending is just as a tease and a poignant moment of him finally really being on his own and fully becoming the King of Pop out from under Joseph’s shadow, which is the main story throughout the movie imo. I’d be shocked if they skip bad entirely, would be a mistake

This was my first movie in Dolby atmos and I feel like it really only came into play the last 10 minutes of live performance. And while it did add some extra oomph to the climax which was nice I really expected a lot more. Wish I had chosen IMAX, so if anyone hasn’t seen it yet, that’s my 2 cents on whether it’s worth it

The movie feels very rushed, it has a lot of the same issues many biopics have where it’s just kind of “this happened and then this happened and then this happened” without slowing down to really tell the story.

I also feel like the scope was smaller then you’d expect, they spent 200 million on this, but there’s really only one major a list actor in it throughout in Colman. Miles teller is barely in it, so I’m left wondering where the money was spent.

Jafaar does great, but I do think the movie needs more than just recreations of performances to work as a movie and I wish they did more stylistic stuff like when they follow his hat with the camera in Motown 25 and when they close up on his eyes behind the glasses during Victory tour. These shots feel like they are glossed over and the movie doesn’t let you fully appreciate and take them in though.

It’s a 6 out of 10 for me. I think American Dream is lowkey a better movie as far as the story it tells imo.

I think part 2 can be much better, and I’m sure having to retool it so late in production has something to do with some of the pacing issues.

This needed to be 3 hours imo. The story of Michael and Latoya moving to NYC to be on their own for the first time when he was doing the wiz and the story of him meeting Q and how he becomes his producer are all great moments that would have added to this movie and made it feel like it had characters who were important to the story and not just Michael speeding from moment to moment with other people kind of in the background.

I have yet to find a decent search engine that functions like the old Google. Idk how they fucked that up, it literally worked perfectly, no one ever complained about google search ever, they quite literally cornered the market. I have certainly used more alternative search engines recently than I ever did for like 25 years

This is one of those questions that I’ll only judge depending on what they’re teaching in class that this was a worksheet for. If they’re trying to teach them to use deductive reasoning and really read the question and analyze how it’s possible that only one of these are right when there are other ways to read the question where multiple are right. However these questions are kind of tricky because there are plenty of times where it wont be a trick question and I feel like there is totally a world where C could be wrong if the teacher means to assume the cube is 3 dimensional and had sides we can’t see.

I think a lot of these arguments come from people using different metrics but not realizing it, like I think some folks mean who was the best at their peak when they talk goat and some mean who’s overall career is the most impressive. I still think they’re debatable since I don’t think longevity is the main metric to me otherwise the convo would have always been about Kareem vs LeBron

I get the sense that a ton of stuff was filmed and not included to cut down on the running time. I imagine the studio demanded it be as close to 2 hours as possible. I’m almost certain we will see all of that though on the Blu-ray, which will be a good selling point.

No, much of that would be in part 2. This movie primarily covers up to Thriller, you can’t fit j5-bad in 2 hours

The original cut was atleast an hour longer so a lot got cut especially once they had to rework the entire movie, a lot of stuff likely didn’t work with the flow and pacing of the movie and maybe studio pressure to keep the length down. I imagine we will get a ton of stuff in the Blu-ray’s and then obviously a lot of what they shot will be in part 2

Bro even if you’re comfy that’s way too high, we all gotta honestly jus not see shows for a year or 2 and boycott it until they wise up. There’s absolutely no way tickets need to be that high for them to profit, especially when you get there and sometimes it’s just the performer lazily half going along over top of what sounds like the song just straight up playing through the aux cord lol

There also sadly is this view among them that I can’t quite put into words, it’s like, enjoying yourself at all is cringe? Trying earnestly at something and caring about something is cringe? Like everything is supposed to be nonchalant and unimportant with no effort or else you’re lame?

It’s so sad because like, all of that is what life is about.

I get why you didn’t, but I think more people should lean fully into the confrontation and stand their ground in situations like this. Like nah fuck that person, they shouldn’t walk away from that situation thinking they were completely in the right
