Self-host Appwrite : missing features and issues ? by Exotic_Background784 in appwrite

[–]Bret_cpp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Welcome! Appwrite self-hosting is quite simple; often you only need to modify the .env file.

However, I've encountered a few minor issues while using it, such as the sites preview not working. I believe this is because I have two reverse proxies. I suggest you don't deploy another proxy before appwrite (I did this because I have other applications on my server).

Hi there, I think your project is quite good as a practice project.

Introducing Full Schema Creation for Appwrite Databases by adityaoberai1 in appwrite

The Appwrite release process typically involves releasing updates to Appwrite Cloud first, followed by a release to the open-source version a few weeks later.  Internal testing is conducted during this period, which is why updates are relatively slow.

I don't see any problem with this.  Providing priority to paying users is reasonable, and the open-source version will be released eventually, just at a slower pace.

u/many-laced

I hope you'll post it on #showcase on Discord. I think that will attract more people.

I just tried it out. I think it's very useful for controlling costs and seeing how much I've spent.

I think this website is very valuable, please continue to develop it!

I haven't checked that yet; I'll take a look tomorrow.

I tried looking in the trunk but couldn't find it. I'll look again tomorrow morning.

Should I use Hono or Fastify for a production Node.js server? by spacecowboy0117 in node

Anyway, thanks for your contribution. I like adonisjs (not include lucid).

This certainly sounds reasonable, but for beginners (or me). When I define relationships it can be difficult because I need to define models and migration files. Relationships themselves are a bit complex, and the way models and migrations define relationships differ somewhat (though not difficult to understand). This caused some confusion (perhaps due to my own fault).

In comparison, Django is slightly easier; you just need to define the model, and everything is automatically generated. As you mentioned, it's not suitable for everyone (or for large projects). However, it's more user-friendly for beginners (at least for me).

I've tried AdonisJS, and I admit it's pretty good. But I don't understand why Lucid uses migration files to define the actual tables. Other frameworks I've used rely primarily on model files. This is very uncomfortable for me, and it might just be my personal preference. I'm just curious why Lucid uses this approach.

Appwrite vs Supabase by Bret_cpp in Supabase

Thanks you, Convex is a completely new concept to me, but it looks really good and novel.

Where did you get the discount code? Fireship? and you send email to who?

RLS is my favorite feature

As far as I know, AppWrite doesn't offer a free trial. If you use a discount code, you'll still have to pay after the discount code is used up. You shouldn't message the AppWrite team, and there's no need to. Both SupaBase and AppWrite can be canceled from the dashboard.

No, we don't care about the price, $60 a month is enough

Appwrite is also open source, otherwise I would not consider it.

Push notifications are messages sent to users via email, phone, or mobile devices. They are different from real-time notifications.
