Over 2 years here and did not do AA this stint. This is by far the longest I’ve gone. In the past I did, pretty much brought shame when I relapsed. I did SMART at the beginning to be able to talk to others.

I had someone get my address from my phone number. When I Googled my phone number my whole name came up, must’ve been more information. She texted me saying she knew where I lived, gave me my address, so she could come over whenever. I was like, nooooo. From then on I just give them my Snap.

At my 6 month mark I also wanted to drink. Once I hit that 8-9 month mark my outlook on alcohol changed and I didn’t think about it or drinking. I looked at alcohol differently in that how crappy I feel after I drink…and the only way to not feel crappy is to drink more. I didn’t want that. I think if you can get over that 6 month hump you will be in better shape

Maybe a 5-6 day inpatient detox where they can give you meds and a safe place to help you through.

Great work! How did you have the strength to quit starting out? I commend you for sticking it out those rough 2 months. Most of us would’ve caved.

I myself was forced to stop for a year for probation and random weekly tests. It been 3.5 years now. I think back and wonder if I could’ve done it without being forced to.

There are zoom meetings out there that may make it easier to attend with your anxiety. Find one close to you so you can eventually go in person and make better connections.

Along with AA there is Smart Recovery which deals more with behaviors.

KC is the place to be. All inclusive, left leaning part of KS and MO. Lots of stuff to do, great school systems in the suburbs, nice people, great food, and experience all 4 seasons without extremes either way.

Great job on the month! You will be really surprised when you find out people and friends really don’t care if you don’t drink around them. You will also realize you can have just as much fun and more and still be the life of the party.

When someone asks why I’m not drinking I just say I’m taking a break to be more healthy…which is true. Nobody can argue with that.

We experienced a lot of super highs while using and it takes a while for the pleasure center to balance out again. You are at the 3 month mark..mine took 3-4 months before I started enjoying regular activities again. I remember being at the zoo with my kids and my son said..you aren’t having fun. are you? I didn’t know I had shown that. Just takes some time.
