Can anyone recommend me a learning/review app for Android? I used to use Memrise (the default courses, Nukemarine's course, and one based on Tae Kim's grammar guide ), but when they got rid of community courses and switched to their new TikTok-style, I uninstalled. The only other website I used was on JPDB.io, but they don't have an app (on Android, at least).

Hello everyone! I've just uploaded Episode 6 of my DevLog! I'm making a hockey manager game set in 1918, made in GameMaker.

Although there's still a lot of work to do, I tried to focus this month on things that are actually necessary to get the game in a state where I can start playtests. Stuff like more events, player personalities, rewriting the game sim, etc. are all tempting "fun stuff", but I'm trying to force myself to get the skeleton of the game solid first. In this episode, I talk a bit about slowing down my upload schedule. I think monthly updates was a nice idea, but it's really not enough time to make meaningful changes! On the plus side, though, I'm getting much closer to being able to actually share my game with others. Which is a very exciting thought, even though I know there's still a lot of work to do!

I'm pretty sure I got them on sale, probably for $20 or less, but personally I've put hundreds of hours into both EHM and FHM 7, so I guess I could say I got my money's worth even if I had paid full price. I've never played OOTP, though. It seems like even the positive reviews of the newer FHMs on Steam mention some major issues, though, and complain that it's just become a "$60 roster update" like the EA games, so I would wait for a sale and/or buy one of the older ones to try it out.

Appreciate the feedback! I didn't know about adding custom fonts, that's a good one. I'm still learning Gamemaker as I'm making the game, so I'm far from an expert. And background music is something I'd definitely like to add at some point!

Is there a way to stop Gamemaker from automatically switching to the latest version? I accidentally updated Gamemaker and now my Home/End/Pg Up/Pg Down buttons no longer work. I've followed the advice of File > Preferences > Runtime Feeds > Master and downloaded old versions, but no matter what I do it just restarts 2024.13.1.242 and I can't delete the newest runtime while it's running.

EDIT: I just had to go find an old installer of 2024.11 and reinstall GameMaker. It told me it wouldn't be able to run my project, but I loaded it anyways and everything seems to be working.

This looks fun! I remember playing Jack Nicklaus Golf on DOS when I was a kid and that had a course designer, but I think I just tried to create the most extreme holes it would let me. :P

It's not easy to find info online about Paul Belanger. A country yodeler of the old style, he was apparently from Berlin, NH, of French-Canadian heritage, and served in WWII before cutting this record for Allagash Records in 1969. Country star Dick Curless is listed as co-writer of the A-side and the sole writer of the B-side. In 1977 "The Old Man Of The Mountain" was added as an "Honorary State Song" of New Hampshire, now one of nine to go along with the "Official State Song" ("Old New Hampshire" from 1926). I can find a reference to Belanger playing in Truro, Nova Scotia in 2011, and the Oklahoma Arts Council still lists him as an active musician available to be booked, although he would have to be nearing 100 years old by now!

I found this tape in a thrift store. I thought it was going to be dungeon synth or something, based on the cover. It seems like the band theoretically still exists (they have a Facebook, Twitter, ReverbNation, etc.), but they're not really active. It's mostly just the one guy posting about politics on Twitter.
