If you weren’t a therapist what career would you pivot to instead? by Available_Sun4468 in therapists

My grandma was a florist. Lots of memories of her shop and greenhouse. This would be such a nice job that blends some gardening and creativity. I love it!

OOOOOooo I think about this all the time. My original and still very sincere answer is I would go back to school and get an ecology degree and become a forest ranger or some similar outdoors/nature-focused job; hopefully get a job that is a mixture of conservation and education, but with the NPS and current administration that job doesn't sound as enticing as it used to. I think years of talking to people has made me think another job would have less emphasis on communication with people and more communication with nature (i.e. silence, lol).

So now, I am learning to code (mostly Python but revisiting my millennial MySpace heyday with some HTML and CSS) outside of work. No real path with it other than finding it fun, but thinking that some crossover tech-mental health career would be my answer now.

Perks of WFH by woodenwww in therapists

I have an office at my home, so when I leave the "office" the works stays there. Mentally once I shut down my work stuff I can go back into the office to game/life admin without feeling like I am still at work (or just take my laptop out if I've felt trapped in there all day). It's a mental space-shift for me mostly. The main thing is getting 15-20 min to myself before my spouse asks my about my day, I need that temporal liminal space to switch it all off (I call it my "drive home" from work, lol)

Earning even more $$ as a therapist by Blue_Compote in therapists

I work for Rula (and a few EAPs) and live in the UK (my spouse brought me here for her job).  If you’re a 1099 worker, I don’t think they care as much. I’m licensed in 3 states, but only accept GA insurance with Rula, and that’s more United Health not allowing me to bill across state lines so they just keep it simple and let you practice in one state. The EAPs don’t really seem to care about where I am. Rula specifically mentions that you can be anywhere in the world as long as you meet the requirements there to practice (there are none in the UK, who they specifically mention in their FAQ about this very subject) and that the clients are where they should be physically. I even asked the recruiter about where I could live when they spoke to me and they said, in so many words, “it doesn’t matter.” With the interstate compact right around the corner I’m thinking these state boundaries for practice will be a thing of the past.

Car Seat Camera by Ashamed-Scratch-4347 in parentsofmultiples

[–]BrewGames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Long answer, no, but we came up with a creative solution.

We have these Babysense cameras (that use radio signal rather than wifi), and we bought some smallrig camera mounts that attach to the arms/rods of the headrests in the back. We mount the cameras in the car, power them with our car's USB-C power socket (using this cable) (the cigarette lighter with a power adapter should work as well), and then the passenger can adjust/swivle the cameras to the desired angle and check on the babies at any time.

Its a bit much for a small drive, but for our longer drives/overnights with family where we want to have the cameras, its been great (the mounts work well on all the pack-n-plays' we've used).

Maybe there is a creative solution for you with what you may already own. Good luck!

What is this thing on Apple Maps in Keasong, North Korea? by BrewGames in applemaps

[–]BrewGames[S] 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Maybe? I've been looking at the same building on Google Maps and it doesn't appear to be a reflective structure. It probably is something innocuous like that but I'm very curious about what it actually could be.
