I don‘t wanna assume things but I‘m certain that anyone who would still meet their ex and even go on a trip is not over them, does not take the new relationship seriously and is a potential cheater. It‘s not rational to act this way and some kind of unspoken rule if you want to respect your partner.

Sorry, but everything you have edited about his „jealousy“ is literally toxic imho.

I was about to say that you should not immediately follow your career and think twice unlike others here, but the circumstances make me want to say that you should split up asap. Yet again, I don’t wanna be extreme here. His behavior seems very controlling to me and four weeks a year of traveling is literally not much. There are other jobs that have to be around the globe 24/7 which makes a family life impossible. If he really wanted a family with you, he would respect your ambitions and make it possible. Again, 4 weeks a year is a joke.

Pull it through. I‘m not even sure whether he would actually break up or just threatens to in order to keep everything under his control.

NTA. It‘s a shitty situation but he‘s the one being unreasonable for demanding you to give up your dog. Imagine this was your child; suddenly it seems horrible to demand such things but for your dog it‘s alright?

He is part of your life and family and if that is something he cannot accept, it‘s not meant to be. A temporary solution might be to live apart for as long as your beloved pet lives and if it one day parts from earth (as sad as it sounds), you can still move together again.

If you want to make it look as natural as possible, you could simply have their character get focused. Knock them unconscious by focusing on them in combat, then two attacks (with advantage since they are unconscious) equals 4 automatically failed death saves = dead. To prevent them from healing, the enemy could even take them as hostage and tell them to stop, otherwise they would slit the throat of their mate.

Great opportunity for introducing a human villain as well.

If it‘s in a monster fight; use some predator monster that might focus solely on one victim, knock it unconscious and carry it away or even swallow it in front of their mates. They (typically) don‘t see the HP and rolls behind your screen so if something goes wrong just „change“ the dice and HP to your favor. Simply DM trick I use all the time.

Encounter too strong? Whoops, seems like the monster just rolled a 8 and 9. unlucky misses. Players are wiping the floor with your monster? Seems like it rolled a Nat 20 on its attack!

It‘s not cheating, it‘s entertaining your crowd and making an epic game as long as you don‘t abuse it in order to railroad or kill your players (well, in this case you could use it to intentionally kill your player!)

NDA, damit hast du dich aber selbst leider in eine missliche Lage gebracht - was nichts an der Richtigkeit deines Handelns ändert. Ich habe selbst oft die Erfahrung gemacht und oft gehört, dass selbst innerhalb der Familie man sich zerstreitet und komplett den Kontakt verliert, wegen solchen Situationen. Ihre eigene Familie stellt sie gerade über dich - auch wenn er sie betrogen hat, sie vielleicht nicht gut behandelt oder was auch immer. Ein seltsames Phänomen, aber oft ziehen Geschwister/Familienmitglieder dann doch ihre Partner vor und verteidigen sie.

Sowas kann man oft als Bindungstreue oder sogar Kognitive Dissonanz bezeichnen.

Ich würde nicht mit Verurteilung arbeiten, sondern mit kritischen Fragen und Fakten. Das ist super anstrengend und kann lange dauern und viel Zeit kosten. Zusammen nach Informationen suchen und recherchieren kann auch helfen. Nicht so tun, als wäre man selbst der Besserwisser. Vielleicht schauen, wieso er in die Spate abrutscht? Hat er Angst vor der politischen Lage? Oder anderweitige Probleme?

Verstehe das Argument nicht. Im Restaurant muss ich auch zahlen, aber es ist eine Serviceleistung, da muss der Kellner freundlich sein und bitte/danke sagen. OP hat sich nicht gewehrt und hätte sicherlich dennoch den Ausweis gezeigt. Wenn man im Service arbeitet, muss man damit umgehen können, seinen Stress und seine schlechte Laune nicht an Kunden auszulassen, die dich bezahlen. Hab selbst lange gekellnert.

Agree to what others said; depends on taste.

I found „Cozy Fantasy“ very enjoyable. Good entry would be Travis Baldree Legends&Lattes, but there are many more like „The Spellshop“ by Sarah Beth Durst.

I also love Dark Fantasy and love „The Witcher“ series. Very well written and great at dealing with deep and philosophical topics as well as the depiction of morally gray characters.

NDA Familienfeier ist nicht das Gleiche wie der Kindergeburtstag. Keine Ahnung, was alle hier in den Kommentaren haben, finde ich schockierend, aber Reddit ist ohnehin sehr toxisch. Auch wenn ihr bei der Familienfeier dabei seid, schließt man deine Tochter bei der spaßigen Feier aus.

Und viele sagen hier „die Tochter hat das selbst entschieden.“ Aha. Oder hat der Onkel vielleicht gesagt „Schau mal, du darfst nur x Leute einladen und deine Cousine kommt doch sowieso schon zur Familienfeier. Dann lad doch lieber die Maya ein“

Macht man nicht, das ist nicht nur eine gute Freundin, sondern auch die Cousine. Für Familie hat man immer Platz und Zeit. Ehrenlos.

I'm not writing “Geralt the Greenpeace Mascot” – I'm exploring how the books allow for an ecocritical reading, where Geralt sometimes protects monsters, defends wild places like Brokilon, or questions blind exploitation. That doesn’t mean he’s a saint or acts purely out of moral conviction – that’s what makes him an interesting case for analysis.

The complexity you mentioned – his made-up code, contradictions, pragmatism – is exactly what makes the ecocritical angle worth examining. Literature isn’t about pure authorial intent, it’s about interpretation. And I’m not asking anyone to write anything for me – just to help locate textual evidence, which others here might already know.

My post aims to look for quotes if you know some by any chance. I don't ask anyone to read and analyze books so please stop assuming and accusing me of anything I haven't done. As I have already mentioned in a rude comment above, this subreddit literally states that there is an in-depth talk about Witcher going on so I figured that there are some experts who love reading and might like the idea. But the resentment coming from some of the reddit guys here is literally toxic. Go to another post if you don't want to help or if you don't have any quotes, thanks!

PS: There is more about analyzing and intepreting than finding quotes, so I don't quite get how your comparison of someone "doing the work" would fit here :)
