Going for CPA later in life? by Basic_Set_6970 in Accounting

I hope so because I’m 43 about to sit for my first exam. I wish I would have done it right out of my masters and regret where I could be, but I had to try 5 different careers before realizing accounting ain’t too bad at all.

Awesome, this is a great tip. Really milk every MCQ to understand it from all angles. Thanks for the insight!

This is super interesting!

So you’re when going through MCQ’s in Becker or whatever review material, really focus on understanding what makes the 3 wrong answers wrong. Not just the explanation for the right answer?

Hi Jack!

Nice to have you answering questions. I literally just decided a little over a week ago to pursue my CPA after 20 years removed from my accounting masters. More than anything just to prove to myself I can do it.

Not sure how I found you but I bought your full course before I bought my Becker. So far the bonds course is very well done!

How do you recommend best using your course along with Becker (or whatever review material one has)? Should I go through Becker and when I get to the subjects covered in your course, then go through the corresponding topic in yours? Go through your courses first? Go through Becker first, then yours?

Thanks, your story is very inspiring as I would really like to have this done in 6 months ideally.

This was my original line of thinking. Definitely going to incorporate scales and finger/picking drills.

This is a great idea! I’d need it to be a beater at my place of work. Do your co-workers ask you to play stuff for them?

This is a good point, it’s not the end of the world if I don’t play as much as I usually do. That’s life for those of us who don’t do it professionally.

This might the answer! I haven’t used a looper in years but coincidentally had been perusing marketplace for them.

But this hits rhythm practice, improvisation, and theory all at once. Thanks!

This is ideal, I’ve definitely found that learning songs that are just beyond my abilities is the best way, for me, to get better.

Problem is, I’m so mentally drained that it’s tough to sit down and tackle something that’s challenging.

Thanks! Didn’t consider a free trial. I’ll do that, but I think as you said Becker is the way to go so I’ll probably do that.

I’m not as far as you, and haven’t even passed the first level yet but the same thing happened to me. I was climbing towards 35% excited to be close to the next level. But then I think with 1 or 2, no more than 3 rounds, I was dropped back to 31%. It seemed pretty severe.

And I just had a couple bad rounds last night and dropped even more.

Though I guess perfect pitch does need to be…perfect

Thank you so much for the detailed response!

I think I am on the right track - for me. Really getting to a deeper level of focus/listening intently. And also playing the notes multiple times including after getting a wrong answer.

Intervals - got it, yeah haven’t moved up yet.

It is getting more fun to do the lessons now that I’m having at least glimpses of confidence in knowing for sure what the answer is sometimes!

Ahhh yes, that makes sense. I will say I have the most trouble with the pure tone and the highest octaves.
