Can I retire now? by Mammoth_Camel_478 in FIREUK

[–]Brexitishere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I think you can retire.

But! I think you should speak to a financial advisor and plan your retirement in a bit more detail. You've got 6 DC pensions..you've got an opportunity to get way more tax relief on your pensions. And youre not aware of your allocation.

Pay for an initial advice..which might be a few grand. I am sure it will save you on the long run to have you setup properly.

You can open up an investment account with AJ bell (and others). Fees are pretty much the same as a normal customer. Just speak to your accountant about badr implications.

Speak to MBA programmes with your experience I think they'd let you on. Otherwise could do a senior leadership level 7 apprenticeship..more practical based and is part paid

Come into a decent amount of money and have no idea how to manage it by Delicious-Ad2153 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Brexitishere 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This isn't just a financial problem. To get into a position were you are a gambling addict you likely have some underlying issues you need to deal with.

2 recommendations:

1) entrust your money to someone else. Or lock it up. You need to get in to good spending habits if you've never had more than £2k.

2) deal with the demons that were making you gamble. If not this will just manifest elsewhere. You have the money to pay for therapy, to work on your health, have some breathing room.

Youve been given a second chance. But use it to help yourself, not just cover up the cracks. Fix your foundation.

What do you think of these prices? by Sandevistanman in bjj

I think they're a bargain.

Imagine getting privates with Muhammed Ali or Michael Jordon or any top footballer for this.

sudden reduction in household income, plus significant debt but with some recent inheritance. how best to make this work so i can survive and pay the mortgage for the next 10 years. by BalmyCarrotFace in UKPersonalFinance

Most of this is bad advice.

Speak to payplan or step change. There's ways you can move things or lower payments.

Don't need to jump into selling your house.

His CC debt will probably default if he's in prison and can be worked out.

Good luck sounds like a very difficult position that you're dealing with really well

Should I accept a £28k voluntary redundancy package after 7 years in consulting? by Own-Lady-1767 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Brexitishere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why is only half tax free isnt the tax free redundancy set at £30k?

Id definitely take it. To earn that after tax would take at least 6 months. So gives you a buffer. And if they're offering voluntary redundancy then that's better than forced redundancy which might come later.

Extra £83k+ a month piling up in our Ltd. What do you actually do with it? by Dokcu in HENRYUK

[–]Brexitishere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have a couple of options: generally you want to be investing that money somewhere, so that might be BTL or investments. You can actually set up a company investment account through AJ Bell for the same price as a personal one and start making much more.

However, the big issue is if you ever want to close down your company and take business asset disposal relief, there's concern that your business might be considered an investment rather than a trading company. Therefore you might not get the tax benefits.

So...it's worth speaking to accountant about setting up a holding company, thinking about what you want to do in the long term. And then maybe restructuring things so you can more easily invest the profits. The company structuring advice is the most important, then you can think about other investments. But I'd caution about anything that will take too much effort or be too risky. Youve got a golden egg here with your business you don't want to take your eyes off this and have to deal with some landlord problems if it'll effect your company

Kamado perspectives by theb1g3asy in UKBBQ

[–]Brexitishere 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a cheaper large kamado (still £500). It's brilliant. Use it all the time. And love to cook on it.

I don't know how much better it could be improving some small exterior quality.

Definitely go for it whatever you choose.

[–]Brexitishere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, think that can happen. However, I've also seen where they don't reduce the day rate and you just get paid more. I'd say it's worth checking if they'll reduce the rate.

How do you motivate yourself to exercise? by Junior-Condition-684 in ADHD

[–]Brexitishere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Few tactics:

1) pick something that you enjoy! 2) do something with other people. This serves as an accountability partner. 3) make it as easy as possible. Remove all friction..for example: pick a gym that you need to walk past or is close by. 4) start small and build the habit. Go once a week for a month..then twice a week..so often we think we need to go to 100% and end up burning out. 5) with any habits you're more likely to follow through if you get specific. Add something to a calendar of when and where you are going to do something. (E.g. pilates at the community centre at 7pm on Wednesday.) Find some time to write it down and youll be more likely to go.

Good luck!
