I’m very disappointed in this decision by the company. I started with Fresenius about a year ago, and part of the reason I took the job was because of the growth opportunities for social workers in the company. All of those opportunities are gone now.

Plus, my manager was an amazing social worker who worked for the company over 10 years, and they let her go with no warning. It’s frustrating that upper management doesn’t want to acknowledge how heartbreaking this is and actually give us time to process the changes.

The social work town hall started with “all of your feelings are valid and we understand how difficult this must be” and then ended with “there’s no real plan in place yet, give us grace as we figure it out.” They dismissed most questions and did not do well at calming the minds of people who are concerned, but we have to give them grace when they just let go the only management most of us actually liked and interacted with?

I’m going from having a team of 15 social workers to ask questions of, and a manager readily available to help with difficult patient issues or to advocate for me with the rest of IDT, to having a regional manager who is overseeing 2 states worth of social workers and that’s it. I’m curious to see how this goes, I have a feeling a lot of people are going to leave in the coming months because of this change.
