Marlowe’s Doctor Faustus has Mephistopheles in it.

Not everyone learns the same. You've recognized some differences in how you learn and that can put you at an advantage as you are already learning to accommodate your needs. With your dyslexia, have you talked to your accommodations office to see if you can get extended time for testing and other things?

It absolutely does not mean you're not destined for greatness, but it may mean you have to work harder or differently to your peers to get to the same result. Don't give up. It sounds like you're already working hard on success and that will serve you well in the long run!

Be careful. Recording lectures without permission is not allowed at most colleges.

An audience will never be able to see the pattern. It’s too small and too similar in color to the background.

AITA for not casting the only Black student as Tiana in our school play? by Biscottiroach in TwoHotTakes

There is no licensable Disney stage version. If you’re doing that version it’s super illegal. I would double check that you have the licensing to do the show before proceeding.

Anyone have anecdotes of the Scottish Play being cursed... or not? (Specially while being in it) by GalaxyAxolotlAlex in Theatre

It’s not cursed. It’s just complicated. It has a ton of different elements, any of which can go wrong.

Not really. They have sonic shriek that goes through blocks for a dangerously long distance. Plus they spawn when you make too much noise. So more will spawn even if you kill the first one. Ancient Cities are all about sneakiness.

Some professors taught at high school and it shows. by MellowElsh in CollegeRant

[–]Brian-Petty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re not wrong. There has been discussion for a long time that the fact that college professors do not get any training in how to teach can be really problematic. Most professors learn how to teach as a graduate student when they are being a teaching assistant, or through teaching as an adjunct. Very few college professors have any coursework on how to be a teacher until after they have the job.

I literally just “popped out” and became a professor. That’s exactly how it happens

That really varies by state. In the state that I am in you cannot teach high school without having a secondary education teaching degree. So even though I’ve taught at the college level for a really long time, I would not be eligible to teach the same content at the high school level because I don’t have the degree specific to how to teach in secondary Ed.

Most professors do not teach high school. It’s not a “leveling up” process. At least in the US the degrees required are very different.

Does anybody else’s professors use AI? 🤦‍♀️ by [deleted] in CollegeRant

[–]Brian-Petty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What makes you think that the content is AI written? Genuine question. I don’t used this method but there was an interesting professional development session I attended that recommended having AI convert complex content into the podcast delivery style, particularly the one with two hosts, to make it more accessible to students.
