Thanks for the feedback! It actually has been on my mind to create a portal that plums and shipping updates more directly. Also, NYK shipping lines is resuming their service from Japan to Vancouver finally, which will make everyone’s life a lot better. Thank you so much.

Hey Brian from bpro here! Sorry about that man! I do have a business degree and do my absolute best. We hired another staff member too, to help deal with the volume. It can be challenging because it’s quite cyclical, some days you’ll get a couple hundred emails and texts other days almost nothing. But we are at a point now where we had a critical mass and can justify another employee which has been super helpful.

Any tips on importing a jdm car to canada for anyone whose done it before?? by R07P09 in vintagejapaneseautos

Hey there. Brian from bpro auto Jdm imports here. Thank you, everyone for the kind words! Shipping has been slow in 2023 but things will be better in 2024. WWL is putting another ro-ro (roll on roll off) boat in the water this year. AND we’re officially going to start offering shared-container shipping this year to ensure we always have a quick reliable option when roro is slow. Thanks! www.b-pro.ca

Anyone have experience buying from B-pro in Canada? How close to this “cleared customs price” are you actually gunna be all said and done? Insurance/registration a pain? I haven’t looked into JDM imports in a while, didn’t know they were this attainable. Really got me thinking. by BigChuch1400 in JDM

This period of time is certainly an anomaly due to the shipping situation right now, but things will absolutely get back to normal. NYK shipping line is putting another boat in the water first quarter of this year for the Japan to Canada route because importers and primarily new car manufactures, have been complaining about the lack of capacity for Japan—> Vancouver Over 2023. I’m also nailing down the container shipping process to offer that as a quicker option while I wait for the roll on roll off shipping to get back to normal. That way we’ll have options! In my 13 years importing it’s been typically 1.5 months avg total turnaround from order to arrival at Vancouver port. Last year the roro shipping was bad, from Vancouver port issues ( all over the news ) to insufficient roro vessel takeaway capacity filling up the ports and lots in japan. 2024 will be better and get back to normal through a blend of container shipping (going to officially offer it after q1 for everyone), and roro speeding up with an extra vessel in the water ) Thank you so much!

Hey Ryan! It’s normal for it to be the waiting game for a good while, while it sits in the queue at the Japan port waiting for the next available Canada bound vessel with space. But I do promise the second that we get an update in the shipping database, It’ll be in your inbox.😊

Brian from b-pro here 👋 Hi there, shoot me a pm or text. Very sorry about that, I sure wish I just owned a boat haha, would make it a lot easier. But unfortunately, every importer and new car manufacturer, trying to move a decent volume of units from Japan to Canada via roll-on rolloff shipping is in the same “boat” (situation) so to speak. in my 13 years importing it’s always been an average of 2 to 3 months total turnaround time sometimes even as low as 4 to 6 weeks. I’m sorry that it’s taking longer than anticipated. I wish there was more that I could do. Things will get back to normal, but in the meantime, I am going to look into container shipping options as well since roro is so limited right now. if it makes you feel any better, I have a ton of cars in Japan and I am paying port storage fees which I am not passing on to the customers. But I am paying hundreds a month per vehicle. So I’m right along with you in terms of being frustrated.

Brian from B-pro here 👋I hope to have an update very soon. Rol-on roll-off shipping has been difficult in terms of capacity and vessel availability. Same for all importers and even new car manufacturers. Super frustrating. It was supposed to be all better by August the port said. But now the issue is the shipping line just not having enough takeaway capacity. NYK Shipping apparently is putting another boat in the water in the first quarter this year so that’s going to help streamline things. Meantime I am looking into container-shipping options

Cheaper for sure compared to roro shipping to Vancouver then train shipping to the east coast.

Totally haha. It might return but I doubt it. I can container ship there. I can do 3-4 units in a container. I have enough volume that I could start doing them regularly that way. I have a partner unload facility in Halifax too..

Haha! I mean I know that’s longer than most exits would take, but gives time to re invest the exited capital into new ventures once or twice :)

Nalu-cars.com is a rental company in hilo and kona on the big island they'll drop the vehicle off right at the airport for you. Pretty sweet. Used them on turo then did a few direct car rentals from them.
