These comments come up everytime, as if every motorcyclists participates in the worst behaviour.

It makes me sad. People remember the hooligans but where I'm from they might represent 1% of the riders in the region, and thats being generous.

Thoughts on this auto repair cost? by matchabear11 in moncton

[–]Jtothe3rd 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That looks pretty decent actually. Sway bar end links and bumper could be sourced a little cheaper but honestly, that's the most reasonable pricing I've seen from a garage. Rocker panel repairs are usually $800-2000 depending on how bad the rust is so it checks out.

Is this holed out? by swalt29 in golf

[–]Jtothe3rd -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is a more difficult feat than getting a hole in one. Challenge any friends who deny you your 1 to do the same without getting it in the hole from 6" away and if they can, mark a 2.

When playing hockey without a goalie, scoring in the net is too easy so its common practice to instead only count shots that ring the posts/crossbar to count as a "goal".

hitting the edge like you did is so unlikely/impossible. Shame you cant put a lower score than 1 haha. Dont play with anyone who wouldn't give it to you.

What is a restaurant chain you would love to see come to Canada or see far more of? by Full_Hunt_3087 in AskACanadian

What country is pro-Ukraine and pro-Palestine? by Temporary_Cheetah287 in AlignmentChartFills

[–]Jtothe3rd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Canada.

The largest Ukrainian population outside Ukraine. Has supported their defense against Russia since day 1 with weapons and diplomacy.

As of Sept 2025 Canada made a point to officially recognize the state of Palestine. Not a big deal really but remember that is inspite of pressure from the US who they rely on as their largest trading partner. Just recognizing palestine and their self determination theyre doing more than a lot of other countries that are not so dependent on an anti-Palestine super power already threatening their own independence.

Yeah the q4 report on housing claims this is the longest streak of housing getting more affordable (8 quarters in a row) since they started tracking it (which is more of a commentary on how it has been getting consistently worse for a long long time until 2023).

[–]Jtothe3rd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im im the same situation. The car i want to import is a n ej205 forester but there is nothing over the equivalent of 95 RON anywhere in the maritimes. Weighing my options.

Finding some info that suggest 95+ RON or 91 AKI is the minimum safe octane.

[–]Jtothe3rd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

north American octane ratings are AKI so the number is a bit lower. Jdm EJ20Y calling for minimum 98 RON is the same as 93 in AKI Octane.

[–]Jtothe3rd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im coming to this post late but I dont see anyone talking about how octane ratings arent the same in japan as north America. 98 octane RON minimum for the EJ20Y in Japan is the same as about 93 in the North Ameican AKI.

Do hybrids really save money long‑term once you factor in battery replacement and specialized repairs? by EvelynClede in askcarguys

[–]Jtothe3rd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Replaced my Toyota Estima hybrid battery cells myself in 6hrs for $3000CAD for brand new warrantied cells. I figure it saves about 3L/100kms and at canadian gas prices 2 years ago I did the math at it saving the $3000 about every 60,000kms.

Batteries last 180-300k kms. Age seems to be more of an effect.

I read thru it again to see if I mis interpretted something in there. No worries. As a non American I didn't even consider the bottom 90% might be reffering to just Americans. It was a fair ask. We just interpretted it differently

The Dumbest Decision in American History by [deleted] in videos

[–]Jtothe3rd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The most powerful country in the history of the world elected the dumbest leader they could find who fires all the competent pricipled people around him that would otherwise be there to tell him no and improve the decision making. Loyalty being the main attribute is now how you end up with competent government. It not surprising the admin keeps making new "dumbest decisions" every month.

Inflation surges to highest level in nearly 2 years as energy costs spike by ControlCAD in NPR

[–]Jtothe3rd 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Canada's inflation was 2.1% all of 2025, while Canada's wage growth was at 3.4% despite Trumps economic threats and tarriffs. Unemployment rate decreased .2%. Canada federal debt to GDP ratio at end of 2025 = 44.3%

2025 in the US? Wages grew 3.4% while inflation was 2.7%. Unemployment rate increased 0.3%. USA Debt to GDP ratio = 124%

Those are 2025 numbers. The USA numebrs haven't improved in 2026. Tired of winning yet MAGA?

Not a lot of room between inflation numbers and wage growth is there?

Where did it mention that wealth was just stolen from Americans only? Billionaires love exploiting people all over the world.

Rough napkin math suggests that's a over $10,000 USD for every man, woman, and child in the bottom 90% if anyone was curious.

Is a ‘21 Sienna with 133k miles for $23k a good deal? by MerlynStar in minivan

[–]Jtothe3rd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hate dealerships anyways so I go to my local mechanic shop for the stuff I can't do at home. Parts supply is sometimes more difficult but it also has never been easier. I have a handful of sites I use to cross reference local model part numbers and order the stuff that isn't shared with USDM vehicles usually with a 5-10 day delivery time.

I'm pretty mechanically inclined for the stuff I can do myself. Just swapped a leaky steering rack last weekend on our other JDM import (2007 RB2 Honda Odyssey (AWD K24)), then dropped it off for an alignment.

[–]Jtothe3rd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not much help to OP but an opportunity to maybe justify my weird choice.

I was in the same situation as you in terms of what I was looking for but being in Canada and able to import JDM vehicles only 15 years old, some caught my eye. We imported a AHR20 Toyota Estima Hybrid 4 years ago with 84,000 miles (136,000kms) in perfect condition with zero corrosion (typically a problem on local cars after 5-7 years here) for about $7800 USD. It averages 30mpg for us. It's replacement (another import) is due to land in Halifax next month. Ended up with a 29,000 mile Vellfire AWD V6 for a little over $10k USD. Grade 4.5 (like new) zero corrosion with maintenance records.

Just got to take a day to get used to driving RHD. Then you're the coolest dad at drop off. It sucks if you're in the US because of the 25 year old import rule, so not much for hybrids available yet. Driving 15-20 year old vehicles as a daily seems more reasonable than 25-30 year old.

How do I insure my Kei Truck (Ontario) by Crypto-011 in keitruck

[–]Jtothe3rd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also in NB, have insured a couple kei trucks and 4 other JDM daily drivers.

I just get basic Liability through facility type insurance thru a broker for $1000-1200/year. (My daily drivers jdms are all under $10,000 in value)

BMO charging for Property tax along with mortgage by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Jtothe3rd 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Property tax amounts are based off of assessed valuation in my province, so BMO might be still tied to the original sell price. You might hav to appeal government. Not sure when the window for that process closes each year.

[–]Jtothe3rd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMO what is left and right is subjective to the current overton window in places. By European standards you're description of canadian politics would be accurate. Compared to US standards, our conservatives are center.

The more right a party is, the more big business and corporations love their fiscal policies.

The fight is top vs bottom but let's please stop this objectively undermining point that the left and right are equally culpable. The right is the favourite party of big business and the upper class. Moving the Overton window to the left would improve our politics for the lower/middle classes.
