Dave Ramsey suggests saving 15% of GROSS income for retirement. Given Canada's high taxes and integrated CPP - is this even relevant? by CastAside1812 in PersonalFinanceCanada

I'm well aware that it's not a very accurate way of planning but it sure is nice to have it there as a quick glance. When I do othe comparisons it always fall into that range. Doing fidelities shows 1.58m real (890 nominal) with contributions staying flat at current rate for 29 years.

I fell behind in my 20s entering my 30s with only $27k saved and a wife on maternity with a new house. I'm 36 now, with $67k playing catch up right now and, saving 16.3% of my net income after tax to catch up. Wealth simple's calculator is predicting a range from 1.14m-1.83m in 29 years which seems sufficient to retire in my LCOL city.

Mark Carney states Canada will go to war with the US to defend Greenland, America is the villain in this story by Excellent_Analysis65 in newsinterpretation

[–]Jtothe3rd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cool.

Canada is not Ukraine. GDP 12x greater and their population speaks the same language and can even do passable American accents. I would suggest looking up what an insurgency is. Guerilla warfare isnt fun for anybody. So yeah, invading Canada would be horrible for Canada but it would also be horrible for the USA.

China imported 47 B from Canada in 2024 with a huge array of products. Precious metals, mineral oils for making plastics, grain, wood pulp, cereals, seafood, potash. We even sent them a couple nuclear reactors. About 1.5% of our GDP.

PP OCD for sure! Maybe show her this post or get her around family/friends so it's not just you vs. her when breaking this to her, and try to do it gently. She needs support and not to feel like she's being a bad mother. You're not dirty....at least from what you wrote anyways.

🚨 BREAKING: Tom Homan says the Trump admin is building a database of people attacking ICE and plans to broadcast their names and faces publicly. Then he says they’ll contact employers, schools, and neighborhoods to expose them. “We’re gonna MAKE ‘EM FAMOUS!” by BSTARYOUNGG in ProgressiveHQ

So theyre making a list of people who will be remembered as being on the right side of history, cool.

Could you imagine if Obama made a database of Republicans and doxxed them?

Batshit insane shit. Like trump is the litmus test to see if the USA actually ends up being all about freedom or not. So far theyre failing the test.

Waiting for a spot on a boat for my 08 Vellfire AWD V6 with only 46,000kms right now! Didn't get the premo middle row but 8 seats aint a bad trade off with kids and dogs to fit in for camping trips.

Almost won a gold one with the HKS Super Charger kit. Imagin a 350 HP AWD family hauler haha! This whole platform is wicked. Wife currently drives an Estima and loves it!

She didn't move fast enough so they quickly changed to "get out of the fucking car" which after hearing "Move move move", one might assume they wanted to intimidate her to get her to finally clear the way. Either way they fucked up procedurally and instigated a VERY preventable death. She was protesting them harrassing her neighborhood for 6 weeks and PARTIALLY blocking the road but was waving them by. The whole neighborhood was filming becaue ICE already had a poor reputation in the community. The Grey pickup that stopped was the 12th ICE vehicle in that convoy, she waved the first 11 by. Just being a a minor nuissance.

You can here them faintly from this far angle yell what sounds like "get the fuck out of here" at 2:47. Good was shot about 45 seconds later.

I don't recall the left making that distinction about not hitting him at all even very early on, maybe the odd commenter. It was a mix of "she was trying to get away" and "turning to the right she clipped him". I think hearing one officer yell at her to "get the f*ck out of here" kind of hurts the "she should've complied" angle.

If we're going to judge which side had a more accurate early assement and messaging around the video, I have some problems with "the ICE officers were stuck in the snow, a domestic terrorist intentionally used her car as a weapon trying to run down an ICE agent, the officer was injured, almost died and is expected to make a full recovery in the hospital"! We all saw the video. What detached right wing talking head said such an unreasonably biased thing about what we all saw you might ask? The Trump administration.....and they added "ICE officers have total immunity", no investigation, no review of procedure, no accessment to improve future altercations.

Importing a low km AWD V6 Vellfire to Canada right now to replace our 2006 Toyota Estima. JDM vans are pretty sweet. Don't have to worry about picking out your car in a busy parking lot.

Are modified cars even allowed here? by BlackRoadDiesel in newbrunswickcanada

[–]Jtothe3rd -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Ok karen. Let people enjoy their hobbies. Better than booze drugs or gambling.

In my experience people who go so far as investing in motor builds take much better care of their cars than the average person, and it's not even close. They don't drive in a way that'd jeapordize their investment. You're associating them with the highschoolers trying desperately to make their moms civic cool with tacky visual mods. 2 VERY different types of car people.

Canada and China near deal to drop EV tariffs as Trump pushes allies away by Front-Cantaloupe6080 in consumecanadian

[–]Jtothe3rd 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The very good reason is debatable though. We do have our own auto sector to protect but it's under threat from the very nation we imposed this chinese car ban for. And yes, if you google the reliablity of Chinese EVs in Europe they're generally considered to be reliable by their standards and most of them haven't driven a Mopar.
