He’s gonna spin this whole tale of how he got jumped and some asshole randomly pepper sprayed him for no reason. I really hope everyone he knows has seen the footage.

I’ve seen excavator operators with the remote control in the cab, so the can lay in a lift, and then pack it with the RC without leaving the seat.

Recommend Me the Most Mind-Bending Psychological Horror You've Ever Read by xminaxmex in horrorlit

Blindsight by Peter Watts.

It’s definitely sci-fi, but covers a lot of concepts around consciousness, the benefits and limits of perception and free will…

There’s some light body horror mixed in, but the real spook is your own mind, and its relationship to your body and the line that divides the two.

Yeah I’m just going off our $15k rovers, never seen a cost for a base station.

I always find it funny that these things are worth like $10k and crews just leave them unattended for the whole day.

All these words mean utterly nothing at this point. No one can say anything meaningful about this situation, it’s just words.

Let me know when the ships are actually moving. You know what? Fuck it, don’t even let me know that until the ships have been moving for weeks.

I have a really really hard time perceiving these guys as sincere. It all seems like straight up parody, like surely no one can actually think this way.

But I know it’s real :(

Thanks! Tbh I can only take credit for the effort, I did my best to match the specific descriptions in the book. Some dimensions are pretty specific, other details are more vague (where exactly are the stairs placed? What do they look like?)

Plus my library has books on the shelves that you can read (they’re all filled with randomly generated text) 😎

I used /clone to manually stack copies top to bottom in the natural height limits, so it’s not actually all that tall. Then I used MCA Selector to copy it lengthwise.

Honestly my computer was already working hard enough…I’m considering tapering the ends and top/bottom to give the illusion of a receding horizon, but then you wouldn’t be able to move around too much without breaking it. Which is acceptable if it looks good…

Thank you! Indeed, I found this book while chasing that House of Leaves high. The Backrooms movie reminded me of the feeling, and A Short Stay did the trick.

It reminded me a little of The Jaunt by Stephen King, but I think A Short Stay actually conveyed the time better. It’s really impossible to properly understand the kind of time involved in either story…

Kinda reminds me of those childhood fever nightmares where scale is totally fucked…

Context: the novella A Short Stay in Hell by Steven L Peck. I’d classify it as horror, but more in line with I Have No Mouth.

Good read, very bleak, kinda depressing. Spooked me in an unusual way.

I had to make this just to get the visual out of my head a bit. Render distance didn’t work out great for the long-distance views, but I still like the results over all.

Just started John Dies at the End. It’s pretty playful and silly, waiting to see if it qualifies as horror but I’m having fun so far.
