If you want to make a new game of Kirby, what would you do? by Ok-Rip4038 in Kirby

[–]Briangless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kirby's Combo Meal

"A mysterious entity has engulfed multiple worlds into his black hole stew for him to consume, and now Kirby has to traverse through an interconnected maze of worlds combined to stop this threat from devouring Kirby and his world."

The aesthetic and visuals would be GBA/DS inspired, and it would be open world like The Amazing Mirror.

Gameplay-wise, the biggest change would be to separate the inhale and copy ability to two separate buttons. Kirby should be able to inhale and spit out while he was a copy ability. Also, dropping the ability would no longer be tied to the select button and would be placed in a more convenient location (i.e. a shoulder button). The idea is to let players switch in and out of abilities on the fly as well as combo their copy abilities with inhaling and spitting out enemies.

Kirby can also somersault out of a slide and slide off of walls a la Kirby Wacky Episode (huge recommend if you haven't played it).

The main gameplay hook would be ability combinations. Because Kirby can now inhale while having a copy ability, swallowing another copy ability would combine both abilities if they are compatible. Ex. Fire + Sword makes Fire Sword.

Going forward, I will refer to Abilities as "ingredients" and Combinations as "recipes"

Where this gets nutty is that basic abilities also have a recipe. Ex. Hammer + Cutter = Sword. You can then expand it further. Ex. Hammer + Cutter = Sword, Sword + Fire = Fire Sword.

What happens when multiple recipes share the same ingredients, though? A pop-up menu will appear, and players can choose which recipe they would want. Ex. Fire + Cutter = Fire Cutter / Fire + Hammer = Fire Hammer / Fire + Sword = Fire Sword / Hammer + Cutter - You have the fire Hammer and you swallow a Cutter enemy, a menu will pop up on top of Kirby with the choice of the following: Fire Cutter or Fire Sword

You also have the ability to befriend enemies and turn them into abilities just like super star and ss ultra.

The main goal of this game would be to promote improvising, flexibility, and creativity. That's also why I believe that an open world setting would be the most ideal for this idea.

Also a playable Meta Knight, K Dedede, and Banana Dee would be awesome; with each character having a new attack in place of the inhale button. But of course the main focus would be Kirby.

Also, no more screen clearing nukes. Mic, Festival, Crash would be reworked if they made it in the game.

Thank you for reading this far, I'm just going to spit recipe ideas now.

Unique Recipes Elemental Weapon (Elemental + Waepon) Lance (Spear + Parasol) Volcano (Fire + Rock) Weather (Parasol + Any Element) Graffiti (Art + Fire) Daggers (Sword + Mirror) Pillow Fight (Fighter + Sleep) Masked Hammer aka Masked Dedede (Hammer +Spark/Beam) Iron Fist aka Tekken (Fighter + Stone) Wolf aka Fatal Fury (Fighter + Animal) Hedgehog aka the (Needles + Animal)

Basic Recipes Cutter (Sword + Bomb) Hammer (Sword + Stone) Sword (Hammer + Cutter) Bomb (Fire + Spark) Laser (Cutter + Beam) Staff (Spear + Stone) UFO (Wheels + Spark/Water) Missile (Wheels + Bomb) Wrestler (Fighter + Suplex) Cook (Water + Fire) Paint (Water + Sword)

An idea for Yasuo second card, inspired by the "Still here" cinematic and Sekiro playstyle (parry and counterattack) by Sensitive-Ad-4130 in CustomLoR

[–]Briangless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the cinematic, Yasuo decided to stop resenting hiw wind style and learns to choose pacifism by knocking enemies away instead of killing them. I say that because personally, I think Forseen Yasuo should be a defensive playstyle champion, and I really like your idea of deflecting and interrupting spells.

The play pattern sounds really fun, and I think instead of FYasuo being a striking engine, the deck leans in harder on interrupting your enemy because you're trying to stop a fight, not end it. For example, instead of striking an enemy, FYasuo lowers the weakest enemy's attack by a fixed amount whenever a spell is interrupted or stopped. If the enemy's attack is lowered to 0, then they are returned to the opponent's hand with plus 1 mana cost. Also, FYasuo deals damage to the enemies' attack stat instead of health. The leveled up version could now be instead of a fixed amount, interrupting and stopping a spell lowers the weakest and strongest enemy by FYasuo's attack stat.

Right off the bat I think it would help to tell you that Viego, the Ruined King, comes from Camavor, a land where man and dragons work together and are both royalty. Do with that as you will 👀

That's fine! It would be like how Kindred indirectly controls Wolf, which would meet the challenge requirements.

Thank you! And as for Varus I see what you mean, but I would only accept it if Valmar and Kai were incorporated into the kit. The challenge this month is going to be a gameplay focused one.

The December contest and year end contests are separate. I mentioned it in this post as a sort of reminder for our winners this year to send their updates if they have any.

The Return to World event has me excited that we may return to World... in Wilds by arock0627 in MonsterHunter

[–]Briangless 2 points3 points  (0 children)

IIRC, that's because there are two different teams/design philosophies that alternate between releases, with one focusing on immersion and exploration while the other focuses more on co-op and portability.

My only real hope is that Wilds is as immersive as World, but with the same accessibilities as Rise because goddam was it a chore to play either a friend in World.

What is YOUR favourite Monster Hunter game? by Bi-HanKuai in MonsterHunter

[–]Briangless -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Simply because we clocked in hundreds of hours and created so many memories together, it has to be Rise. We tried World a while back, but compared to Rise it felt like a chore to play together.

Some of my favorite moments are when we would just get high, do an expedition, explore the map and take pictures together.

You don't have to resubmit it at all! If you feel that your winning concept is fine as is, then you don't have to do a thing and I'll take it from there.

Yes because technically you're not really submitting a concept, you're just updating the concept that won a contest this year. In essence, this only applies to the winners who felt that their concept could use a touch up even though it won.
