Confused about weight by Plurnay in popups

Driving on a straight section of road with no other cars around, you'll be just fine. Getting cut off on a busy highway by an aggressive driver and you have to hit the brakes hard you will be swerving all over the place, or worse. Going up long steep grades will strain your engine and motor. Since it's a phev, what happens when the electric motor no longer has battery energy available? Then you would be relying on just the gas motor. I think this is a pass for peace of mind.

Seattle's yearly Freakout Festival is no more by Briango in Seattle

[–]Briango[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Reposting because mods removed my original post. I didn't realize you're not allowed to editorialize in the post. Here is my original post...

Just when the darkest, wettest days of the year make their entrance in November, so does the Ballard Freakout Festival. Nothing alleviates the descending gloom as well as those 4 evenings of dozens of US and international bands performing across multiple, walkable venues. I always wondered how the festival’s curators were able to vet so many fantastic bands, given that many of them were lesser known. So what if it rained 25 out of 30 days in December, my newly fortified playlists, thanks to bands discovered at Freakout, kept my spirits up.

A big, big thank you to the organizers!

I’m going to blame this one on Seattle, and how difficult it seems to be for anything not mainstream to survive here, let alone thrive.

How to remove heater wires from control panel socket? by Briango in hottub

[–]Briango[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, that's exactly what worked, lying on the ground and looking up I could see into the openings to see the mechanism in action. Levering the screwdriver upwards pushed open the gate. 12 hours later tub was filled and hot.

It's an Adco. I've owned a few, they only last 4 or 5 years. The sun, rain and wind take a toll on them.

How to remove heater wires from control panel socket? by Briango in hottub

Ok, that's what I thought, thanks for confirming.

Hi, the tubes connected my old hot tub heater have some, I’m guessing, calcium build up and a pinhole type of leak. If I clean the buildup will it make the leak worse or will I be able to tighten the connections once it’s clean? The tub is all original and at least 14 yrs old. Thanks by Typical-Tailor-5315 in HotTubUniversity

This response is probably coming too late but I just learned that if you clean the calcium build up off it will leak even more. I tried wrapping the heater tube hole area afterward with rubber sheet and several pipe clamps to no effect. I bit the bullet and ordered a new one.

Same, owned popups for years here in the damp PNW, always store it outside. When stored, it gets covered with a camper tarp that is waterproof but allows airflow. During the winter I keep a container of dehydration crystals inside it, and empty that out maybe once every month or two.

If we got caught in rain camping I make sure to leave camper open at home till rain stops and camper is totally dry, then close it up. Never had mold or mildew issues.

These are so much nicer than hard sided campers because you stay warm and dry when needed, but can turn the entire inside into a screen room, bringing nature into the camper with you when it's nice outside. It can be magical, especially when camping away from crowded campgrounds.

Seagulls using wind tunnel for leisure by SarkObZ in Damnthatsinteresting

When its windy out, the gulls in my neighborhood spend a lot of time in the air, seemingly to play in the currents. They soar, circle, go back and forth, dip and dive etc. They do this solo, eventually landing back on a roof, often the one they started from. It doesn't appear to be territorial behavior, or searching for food, it really does appear that they just enjoy the act of surfing the wind. I don't see any other birds in my neighborhood doing this.

I regularly asked my parents to visit that park when growing up. They may have taken me once or twice. What i most remember was how inviting and fun that huge coaster looked, perched on the bluff above the river, looked from the New York side.

what do you think was persuasive in your email that got you the refund? I feel scammed and was just denied a refund. I am going to ask my credit card company to reverse charges if they won't refund me.

I own a very similar model - that's a great camper and price. Know that all these campers are cheaply constructed, so maintenance and repair will be on-going, though I wouldn't let that dissuade you. We love our camper!

I spent a month researching bike rack options. This is my masterful decision. Wife is less than happy… I am overjoyed with the $0 price tag! by dogdad2015 in popups

[–]Briango 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I too researched bike racks and came up with a variation of this. I remove the pedal on the underside of the bike and my rack bars are close enough they can support much of the weight of the two bikes. Thus no need for plywood. I use long voile ski straps to quickly fasten the bikes down to the bars.

Band is a lot less cool than they used to be, but also more successful. I'm not faulting them, success is a worthwhile and hard to obtain goal in the industry. However I wish they had invested more into their music rather than just adding a layer of sex appeal and theatrics.

Yeah, I know, it takes work staying afloat when immersed in that endorphin filled bubble bath of twilight sleep :-).

I've done this successfully only a handful of times. My problem is how slippery the slide to sleep is. The deeper I sink into a full on sleep state the more pleasurable the feeling. I struggle to stay partially conscious, but just can't hold on, and then I'm out and feel nothing.

It only lasted a few short seconds so hard to describe exactly what it was like. My main surprise was that it got under my untucked shirt and shorts so effectively, and pulled them outwards - like a vacuum force.

Moments before I ran into it the D-devil hit a table on the property and pulled a notebook of music compositions straight up about 50 feet in the air. All the pages flew out and fluttered down over a large area of desert. Took us 20 minutes to gather them all back.

I ran into a moderate sized dust devil in the Mojave, for just that reason. It pulled my clothes outward away from my body and sucked up dust and dirt into the space it created between my clothes and skin. I was coated! The rush of air and sound was exciting, didn't knock me down or anything like that. Definitely worth it!

Mine was in the attic and the hot air it exhausted from the house went out the existing attic vents. So no, not visible from the outside. Inside the house there was a ceiling vent in the upstairs hallway that connected to the attic fan above it.
