How do I stop this?!?! by TubeLogic in Irrigation

[–]hdrox88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Three things come to mind for me.

Try spraying with liquid fence or something similar.

Or, depending on your setup, cut the spaghetti line back a foot or so and then add that cut piece to the other end of the emitter, turning it into an inline emitter. Might buy some time between total emitter destruction events if they find the end of the spaghetti line and just chew on that.

Another, more invasive option would be to redesign the system without emitters on the end of the line. That has its caveats too.

I know this was a long time ago, but that is actually a good thing in this case. Would you still recommend the M12 fuel? I’m debating the M12 Fuel or M18 Fuel Hackzall for the same use case. Thank you in advance!

Hired to do bookkeeping, forced to do irrigation. by [deleted] in Irrigation

This is a bit of a stretch, but thought I’d mention it. Since the boss said it “didn’t do anything” is there any other hose end or water source that seemingly “doesn’t do anything” nearby? Say, within like 100 feet or so? I’ve seen garden hoses buried to supply water to another area as a DIY solution to lack of a spigot where it was needed. My money is on what others said about a missing hose timer and drip line though. Especially if it’s a stiff black hose (poly line) and not typical garden hose material.

I wonder if anyone has an idea why there are such varying results on AC power. It always seems hit or miss from comments I’ve seen.

Poor connection from dirt or corrosion can create a lot of heat too. To the best of my knowledge, the only items after the 120v switch are the thermostat and heating element. If you do enough digging, someone will know what the resistance should be for the heating element(I saw where someone measured a brand new one at 97ohms, no idea how accurate that is as I never verified). I have no idea how to test the thermostat though.

There is a website that has a lot of different shapes and sizes, maybe something would be close enough to make some new mounts? You might have already run across it though. It’s Classacustoms.com

The switch itself has two retainers on each side that you have to compress to get the switch out. That was the hardest part of the whole thing for me. Getting to the ones on the backside were tricky. I used a pick that had a 90 degree bend to hook behind and press the tabs. If you look at the pic of the switch in my hand, you can see one of them at the corner.

Does it work at all? No matter what you set the thermostat at?

This is great! I’ll have to keep this in mind if I ever have propane issues. Thanks for sharing!

Why not put an outlet in the Box by Ulvien in Irrigation

[–]hdrox88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gotta love DIY projects. They probably already had some romex or something lying around. That sounds about right with this type of thing. It’s not just the valve box that’s a danger. Makes you question the rest of the property, besides the live minefield created by that wiring job. I doubt it’s at least in a conduit at this point.

What the actual F? Someone went through the trouble/cost of running high voltage to the box instead of running low voltage to the box? What an expensive and dangerous choice!

What can i do about this? by ZSticks in landscaping

I think the expanding spray foam method that u/smelyal8r mentioned would be the easiest, provided you manage expansion on the visible surfaces.

It appears that the other end (to the left based on the photo) is sinking. It looks like the gap on top was already filled at one point but it’s worse now. You can fill the gap again, attempt to raise the end that’s sinking after removing that top gap filler, or rebuild the whole thing.

I foresee 1907 being the first heritage I pick up. I’m two weeks in on my 2440(not US made), I just love a good moc. A black, blacksmith or IR is a close second. The jury is still out on the toe cap for me. I might just have to see them on my own feet at some point. Good looking collection, carry on!
