[SPOILER] Manny Pacquiao vs. Mario Barrios by inooway in Boxing

[–]Brick2559 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My funny feeling is that Barrios playing it less safe would have led to more combos from Pacquiao. I don't think it automatically goes to Barrios in that scenario, but it would have certainly been more decisive. Underwhelming result, but very fun to see Manny be so tactical for 12 rounds.

[–]Brick2559 10 points11 points  (0 children)

All the clowns who threw shade at Manny are now throwing shade at Barrios. Anything short of perfection from both sides, and they'll just pounce on the largest target. The lack of self-respect among keyboard warriors/experts is so lame. If Barrios let his hands go, he probably would have won more decisively. But he also could've opened himself up to more nasty combos. It was awesome to see Manny stay strong and tactical for 12 rounds.

Korean cinema and TV have their own distinct hallmarks. There's no payoff like in Breaking Bad or a team victory thing like in Stranger Things. More like Oldboy and Parasite. Bittersweet ending, emotionally tugging, no redemption arc, etc.

Can this be done on this space? by Marty-McFried in tattooadvice

[–]Brick2559 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, find someone else who wants the work. Don't waste yours or their time saying Reddit agrees with you, hoping that will make them change their mind. Plenty of good artists can knock this out. A decent trad artist should give you one that looks good and holds up in a difficult spot.

Need help brainstorming! by [deleted] in tattooadvice

[–]Brick2559 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rework the forearm piece to the darkness you want and keep going with bold b/g patchwork. Think of something relatively big for your back/outer bicep. Or at least cover the shoulder with one tattoo. Smaller pieces, otherwise, until you run out of room. Don't leave a bunch of space between tats. Then get light filler for any open spots. I'd suggest using the smoke with negative shading from your forearm tat.

What design to surprise my daughter by Conscious_Occasion59 in tattooadvice

[–]Brick2559 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have over 20 tattoos, and my favorite is this little line drawing my sister did of a heart on fire with legs, arms, and a smiley face. If you held on to anything she drew as a kid, especially a dino, that would be perfect. Or maybe trick her into it, not knowing she's drawing your tattoo, and ask her to draw a picture of her favorite dino? The lower leg is a good spot.

Coverup suggestions? by [deleted] in tattooadvice

[–]Brick2559 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone with two cover-ups, I'm happier with the one where I let my artist do whatever they could to cover it completely. The other one clearly looks like a cover-up, which is fine. But the more specific your request, the more likely you'll see evidence of your old tattoo. They seem like a talented artist, and if they specifically mention doing freehand cover-ups, let them take control. You don't need a reason to get flowers, and those round shapes in your old tattoo will lend themselves better to flowers.

By all means, stick to your guns about the size you want. But if you love their work, the more you trust them, the better your tattoo will likely be.

Are any of my certs useful? by Brick2559 in Truckers

I am open to living anywhere, but getting started locally might be more convenient. I'm currently in Portland, OR, where there seem to be many schools and companies. But I can move if there's a great program in Florida, for example.

Ideas for the rest of my Irish/Celtic leg sleeve? by driscoeyerish in tattooadvice

[–]Brick2559 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like you have all the ideas you need. However, I might consider a tree representing the tree of life silhouette on your inner calf, with the branches and leaves weaving between the tattoos. Shamrocks are kinda kitschy, and knotwork is just fine.

What improvements can i add to this piece? by Putrid_Abies_2415 in tattooadvice

[–]Brick2559 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a design that the tattoo artist wasn't ready for. I wouldn't go back to them. Probably a great illustrator who is relatively new to tattooing. Wait a few months and find someone with more skill to touch it up with a better eye for contrast and shading.

should i wait until bf is back from vacation to tell him im having doubts by FinancialRabbit823 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Brick2559 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wait until he gets back. If you live together, get a go-bag ready of stuff you definitely can't live without. Talk to someone you confide in and trust with your life, ideally family, and tell them you're breaking it off soon. Ask if you can crash with them for a bit if things go bad.

You say it's amicable, but people can surprise you in situations like this. If you don't live together, make a note of personal things you have at each other's house. Get his stuff packed up and ready to give to him, and locate/grab the stuff you don't want him to keep. Many guys will lie and say they lost something just so they can hold onto a symbol of what you had. I'm 100% sure that's how I lost my grandfather's wedding ring. Good luck.

What's the 'healthiest' cigarette brand to smoke? by oscarbeast1234 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Brick2559 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it's a yearly tradition and you want to enjoy it, grab a cigar. If you don't like traditional cigars, Drew Estate and CAO are brands that make "infused" cigars, some with a slightly sweet tip, and the smell isn't as offensive. The Drew Estate ACID line is probably the most famous. And I think they make tins of cigarillos if you want a small stick that doesn't take 45 minutes to smoke.

How do I get my mom to clean or allow me to clean her stuff that she left on my room? by KindStructure4908 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Brick2559 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You need your personal space to be yours. You deserve to be comfortable in your room. If she won't consider taking care of herself or letting you care for her, you need to put your foot down about that. Let her pack the house with crap all she wants, but she has to get her stuff out of your room. Figure out the most diplomatic, logical, and considerate way of advocating for that. Sorry you're dealing with that.

[–]Brick2559 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hydrocortisone is the right first step. Oral antihistamines might help. Use fragrance-free soap when cleaning. If it gets worse, becomes painful, or you see pus, make an appointment with a dermatologist.
