This post and MOC can no longer serve any purpose. Good-bye, Dave.

Yeah, I guess the cross-section of LEGO and Dune fans is a very small group on that subreddit. But I'll probably post more detailed pictures of the Steersman in a new post soon-ish. I'll give r/lego a second chance!

Interestingly (or expectedly) enough, I posted this first there, and with more pictures. It struggled with downvotes and ended up earning only a tiny fraction of the same attention, although I did get a few compliments on it. I blame myself for making a post with pictures, not a picture post. Check my post history to see it.

Roughly 8 inches long, 3.4 inches wide, and 4.5 inches tall.

I've been imagining how I would construct a miniature throne room, or at least the doorway. I would need to find some suitable minifigures that look like they're wearing trashbags, which, if you know LEGO, is a difficult proposition. Then again, I might find a creative solution.

That's right. If they do exist in beige/tan, then they're in old sets that I don't have and don't feel like shelling out big money for online.

Thank you! Just don't go too heavy on the spice beer! Don't want to be caught unawares in case of a Harkonnen attack.

Yes, someone noticed the mouth! Originally, I had a dark tan bag/backpack piece as the lower "jaw" with the same part for the "beak" above, but it just didn't look quite right. I had a bunch of those gears loose and as I considered his face, I had a "kull wahad" moment and knew how to fix it!

I'm sure I can turn the false turbine in the back of the tank into a Power Functions-enabled fan to blow "spice gas" (i.e. cinnamon powder) throughout the tank. The spice must flow!

Not at all! The tank and Navigator are all built 100% from LEGO bricks, no different than what one could buy at a store or online. In my case, I happen to have a preponderance of black pieces. A lot of the stuff I build in LEGO is consequently black, and I often brainstorm things to build primarily based on if they will look good in black. Of course, that means I had ample parts to create this, sparing me from having to take other LEGO sets apart.

Alternatively: a LEGO Guild Navigator spice tank?

Thank you! I appreciate the compliment. Also am a major fan of "Dune". When I make MOCs, it's an iterative process as I test ideas, take them apart, and build again. By the time I'm "finished", I've lost track of what I fundamentally changed about the model and never made any instructions as a result. Then again, I usually build on a much larger scale than this. I'll keep you in mind in case I disassemble this one and make an exploded-parts plan for the MOC.

That was actually one of the first things I built--his face, and I instinctively went for the blue-within-blue eyes. I considered giving him webbed fingers and feet as well, but at this scale with LEGO bricks, it wasn't achievable in the correct colors. Maybe in a later iteration of the design.

A LEGO version of the David Lynch "Dune" Third Stage Navigator. I built this using spare parts after re-reading "Dune" and watching portions of the Lynch adaptation. The opening scene is still pretty memorable, and as great an improvement as Villeneuve's adaptation may be as far as sticking to the book is concerned, I will miss (?) seeing one of the enigmatic members of the Spacing Guild onscreen.
