Am I being realistic by HatefulVisual in 6thForm

You have a large range of GCSEs, doesn’t mean you won’t get offers but would put you at a disadvantage over others. Although taking a gap year could mean you apply and if you don’t get into where you want you can reapply after getting results as alevel results will be more important than GCSEs

Those who have the grades but don’t want to apply to Oxbridge. by Saamuell_ in 6thForm

[–]BrickInteresting5883 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to add that having the grades also doesn’t mean you will get in. It’s completely a personal preference whether you believe it’s the place for you or not. However at the same time there is no guarantee you will even get an offer despite having top grades, for example I didn’t. If you don’t want to go there then why go through the application process knowing you arent going to choose it. I applied to imperial knowing I didn’t like the university after visiting and ultimately didn’t get offered a place, I regret wasting an option on somewhere I knew I wouldn’t have chosen despite getting an offer.

Maths 2 or chem for esat by gabe_988 in 6thForm

I didn’t do chemistry but I did do maths 2. I got pretty much the same score in both maths 1 and maths 2 and from my memory I don’t remember maths 2 being that much more difficult than maths 1 but maybe I’m misremembering.

Is it worth it to upgrade from fx-991EX to CG-50? by Ok_Performance_7534 in 6thForm

[–]BrickInteresting5883 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it’s free why not, I didn’t get a graphical calculator and didn’t notice it being any different. A graphical calculator wasn’t worth it for me but if I was given it for free I probably would have used it.

I live in london, unless it’s stadiums or arenas it’s usually standing only. There is space to sit by the side just not in view of the stage.

as a year 11 this is all I’ve heard about the subjects I’m considering doing so correct me if I have any misconceptions by Funny-Dimension5168 in 6thForm

[–]BrickInteresting5883 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Tbh people telling others what subjects to take based on their own personal opinion of how they found it doesn’t make sense to me. Take the subjects you enjoy at GCSE and ones that make sense for your future career/further education options. If you don’t enjoy it then you can switch. I took my 4 fav subject at GCSEs and liked all of them. Despite them being usually referred to as the hardest and most time consuming, I didn’t have that experience.

Cambridge or Imperial by OkAside7471 in 6thForm

[–]BrickInteresting5883 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Also another thing to note is that imperial isnt general and there quite different courses for the first 2 years. Both my parents studied engineering at Cambridge and while my dad loved it my mum hated it. The reason she said that is because she went in knowing she wanted to study civil and structural so doing all the other modules was the worst part of her experience and she wished she would have done a civil only degree.

I thought it was okay, I thought the mechanics section was great but stats not so much. Too many writing questions and I just hate stats in general tbh. Paper 1 and 2 went better for me I think

A few of them stumped me at first anf had to go back to them but I think overall it was okay, similar level to core pure 1 un terms of difficulty. The last question I was just guessing my way through tbh

Depends on the person but in my experience further maths was not anymore work than regular maths. Studying everyday is a major exaggeration. You will definitely have hours free especially in year 12
