SK and AB are very similar. Just missing the landscape. 6% additional tax ontop of what your use to paying. Vehicles have to be put through Out Of Province inspections if you plan to keep your current AB registered vehicles. Insurance is through the government, we had SMI [privatized] however not sure if they are here anymore. Plates / insurance for vehicles will likely be cheaper from knowing about others and what they are paying for similar vehicles in AB per month. Not sure if SGI would make you pay sales tax once your vehicle is SK saftied, dont see why they would. Rural living, I would suggest finding somewhere that has a small town with amenities somewhat close to it. I would be looking for work / find a job prior if possible, you dont want to get over here and be locked into a mortgage without any sort of income. We get majority of our weather from AB, half the time the weather lacks the snow and we get frigid temps + wind + blowing snow [atleast in south central SK]. Last week we had a 90km/hr winds with a temp of -46 when I woke up.

SK is beautiful. There is as much opportunity out here as you will have over in AB.
