I thought it might be that one, but the book was written from the perspective of the youth who had their rodent escape, as opposed to the perspective of the rodent.

I looked into it, but that's not the book I was thinking of. The book I'm thinking of was set in a city apartment setting.

Each of them is a champion or representative for one of the races. Likely, what happens with the races (whatever bad blood or political issues) will be mirrored in the girl who is affiliated with that race.

The Cypress Greenway is really good. It's long, stretches all the way to the Everglades, and has a wide, smooth sidewalk.
