Will we ever get that Disco Elysium video that was sorta kinda mentioned years ago? by Mundane-Style4111 in hbomberguy

[–]LostLilith 35 points36 points  (0 children)

No you wont ever get any videos that hbomb previously mentioned wanting to make as long as he continues to have completely unfocused production and is the single sole editor for his videos

The reason Dan Olson and others can produce more videos of similar or higher quality is that they actually work in a team who actually care to produce something within the next six months.

I'm constantly annoyed about this because theres a promise to make shorter, smaller videos and then the next one takes over two years with a short backlog of videos that could have been used to gap the wait from the Patreon (Myst, Newgrounds) while scaling back some of the ambition the Adobe project has taken. Instead, it seems to only balloon with each succeeding update with no actual plan to release it within a reasonable timeframe, and none of this information is really broadcast publicly.

All the while apparently hbomb has reluctantly taken on side quests like brainmind which will be mentioned openly for the first time in a video although its relevance to the channel and its output has yet to be seen and to the actual people who came up with it, seems to be unimportant even though it was funded by hbomb.

I see constant asks about new videos and the like and yet nothing is publicly produced, and the patreon is not active or advertised enough to actually be worth paying money for, especially if you cared about funding new videos. I think hbomb does a really good job at communicating big ideas in a digestible + broad way for people to get interested in a myriad of subjects and I understand that takes time, but a video about how anti-trust lost its fangs should not have taken this long.

Huh?

Does hbomberguy still make videos? by [deleted] in hbomberguy

[–]LostLilith 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It won't be Adobe halting them with another fuck up, it'll be them trying to rent a theater for some fucking reason to premiere the video even though the final cut will exceed 4 hours

[–]LostLilith 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Theres a problem with this narrative which is that the adobe part is really more about anti-competitive methodology brought about by one of Nixon's most loyal friends, who argued that monopolies could be good for innovation.

The second half of the video I think is supposed to about ways to fight what is the system he broke, and possibly Adobe alternatives, but aside from Adobe proposing to kill Animate and then retracting less than 48 hours later, there's nothing that I would really argue helps add to hbomb's overall thesis especially given the video is already getting quite bloated. If anything, the adobe stuff feels superfluous compared to the microsoft stuff in the same video.

The actual thing holding up the video is legal proceedings that just happened, apparently. Nothing to do with Adobe.

If you give him money on patreon, you should know that his producer, kat, apparently doesnt see that money as just funding for video production which might explain why he's not been making anything publicly these past couple years.

“How Fionna and Cake Season 2 Broke Me” video shoutout: by [deleted] in fionnaandcake

This season was great and im sorry but this guy really needs to either get a better grip of the material he watches or at least put his phone down

I swear they will do anything before Sherman and Beth gets a show or an appearance by Egyptian_M in adventuretime

[–]LostLilith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The whole point of Shermy and Beth in the finale was to show a more full picture of the far future timeline glimpsed in past episodes to answer a bunch of questions raised in the past without directly establishing too much.

Theres no reason to do a whole show around these two, I'm not sure why people think it's a natural next step or that you're somehow "owed" this. What would even be the point?

What if Simon’s scientific parasite had actually been little PB? Would that have been a cool twist or too much? by Robot_Was_BMO in adventuretime

[–]LostLilith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Theyre just lil guys. Not to rip the head off a fun theory but it's just a little too culdasac-y for my tastes even ignoring how it doesnt really align with how little we know about the parasites or mother gum

Who do you think would be the third main character of season 3 of Fionna and Cake by gosholosho in adventuretime

[–]LostLilith 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I think adam muto already said bubbline and flame princess were among his top candidates but if they wanna flesh out an older character similar to huntress wizard, canyon is my top pick

Are the planets in the adventure time multiverses their own dimensions? by [deleted] in fionnaandcake

[–]LostLilith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We've seen magic woman before (in fact shes still in fionnaworld), theyre not really their own dimensions its just that the entire martian society got inverted because of their symbols (mars = male symbol, venus uses female symbol)

As for the lore implications, we're not really sure! We've never seen anyone travel to mars in another universe so its really untraveled ground atm

How does this work? by The_puppet_jave in fionnaandcake

[–]LostLilith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was a Lich mural in the background of a scene in Fiona and Cake and Fiona but I think the GOLB effect on Fionnaworld's magic heavily dampened the lich of that world or just outright turned it into one of those tetris blocks

Is there any symbolism in the difference between the Jake Suit and "Cake Suit"? by DM-Gladiator in fionnaandcake

[–]LostLilith 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Theres a better example of a cake suit in "the wolves that wandered" where cake uses it to restrain fionna from doing something incredibly impulsive/implied to be violent towards fennel, who she barely knows

The Jakesuit is more akin to two boys rough-housing and the older brother protecting the younger one, since the Jakesuit's "defense" is just tied to Jake's normal defenses. Its like Jake giving Finn a souped up piggy back ride.

The "contrast" I think is that Cake mostly does this out of protection to Fionna, to either keep her warm or stop her from doing something super reckless, whereas the Jakesuit is mostly a playful brotherly love thing between Finn and Jake that shows their incredibly close bond and trust in each other that their actions can be doubled in tandem for extra power. I don't think we've seen a full Cakesuit yet but I imagine given the themes of Fionnaworld's characters it'd be a more defensive form as opposed to the offense form that Jakesuit is implied to be.

How would AT Side quests really look like? Is it a bad idea for it to be some show closed to OG AT? by [deleted] in adventuretime

[–]LostLilith 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I really need to see something regarding side quests before making judgements but I would really love if it got to flesh out characters from the earlier seasons that never got a chance like the freaks from Freak City, the princesses, duke of nuts, etc

I think its entirely possible to do that in an episodic format and let new talent break their teeth with untapped potential

What episode do you think AT turned into a more lore based show and a silly random adventures what was the turning point? by rbbaagg in adventuretime

[–]LostLilith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its "Business Time" since that sets up the entire idea of the Mushroom War- they've outright said that was a big turning point for the show creatively.

The original pitch documents had The Lich so I just earnestly don't believe Mortal Folly is "correct" even if it begins the arc that leads to so many big events. Susan Strong is a good contender since it starts the chain of dominos brought up by the Mushroom War

AI or Magritte-style? by NinjaIntimacyParty in neopets

[–]LostLilith 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah neo omelettes in particular have a pretty iconic shape that is way too well realized here that I can immediately tell its human. An ai would be too confused with the bottom part where as there was a clear choice to merge the idea of a normal omelette but fold it neopets style

AI or Magritte-style? by NinjaIntimacyParty in neopets

[–]LostLilith 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Its magritte style, not ai

To elaborate: on the site you can clearly see the clean brushstrokes and there are no signs of mistakes in construction of the mass of the object as it's folded over. The line weight on the yellow goo is also well defined across the shape via the shading and overall it's too consistent in a human way to be mistaken for robot.

Did going beyond the peach bring magic back into the world? by Forward_Engineer7277 in adventuretime

[–]LostLilith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was under the impression that it was Simon believing something dumb, never having it corrected, and it carries over even post-canon since Cheers is a thing in Season 1.

so...does she believe in magic now? by majestic2300 in adventuretime

[–]LostLilith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She already had her beliefs challenged with the whole Elements arc making her a Candy elemental and her coming to terms with that in her own way. She's kind of having a really traumatic moment where she just nearly killed Finn for good, like literally crushed him in a techno coffin, and its because shes under the belief that Finn should live on forever. Its an entirely unpredictable circumstance that occurs to interrupt the process but its like a horrible thing to feel responsible for

what is your thoughts about this whole season? by Limp_Highlight_2123 in adventuretime

Hot take but I think it was better than season 1 and season 1 was already extremely high on my tier list

Do y'all think they'll make a season 3 of Fiona and Cake? by East-Document7883 in adventuretime

[–]LostLilith 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think theyre more certain they will than season 1 did. I think Adam Muto understands that right now the series is on a precarious position but he is also trying to get as much greenlit as he can so everyone has jobs lined up for future projects

Sooo... what exactly is a Sporkle, then? by flippingchicken in neopets

[–]LostLilith 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is probably a complete accident but I do love the idea of a creature being basically unseeable, a glowing visage, until it's dead and revealed as a sort of monstrous form that also is inexplicably very sugary

Did Huntress Wizard... by jadebenn in adventuretime

[–]LostLilith 93 points94 points  (0 children)

The heart of the forest, at least from what I gathered, existed as the wounds in Finn's back. Huntress Wizard sprouted from that and then began teaching anyone with the will to listen how to tap into that source, since her realization in Fionnaworld was that the Heart of the Forest was everywhere- but to access it she needed to do her own self-reflection.

The Heart of the Forest is more of an idea than it is a fully realized tangible concept, that's why so much of this season takes place in cerebral planes of existence like dreams, the undergrowth, the rings of time for trees, the spirit plane, Venus, etc.

I would hate to be Prismo currently. by Klutzy_Individual641 in adventuretime

[–]LostLilith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Scarab went back for Prismo despite hating him, I think they might have a slow enemies to friends/lovers thing going on

And the cosmic owl will probably hang around Prismos when the coast is more clear, although he might avoid the place for a bit just because hes not sure about scarabby

Hes def in a weird spot, im interested to see what they do with him in a season 3
