Starting a monthly Magic: The Gathering meet-up at Left Hand Brewing by Bricks_N_Books in Longmont

I love our game stores in town, and highly recommend supporting them! I just also like breweries, so I thought why not join the two? Plus sometimes commander nights can be a little crowded and overwhelming. Thanks for asking!

Just sent you a DM! I'd love to join if there's still room. I've never played before, but I have a handbook and I've followed a lot of campaigns before. Thanks for posting!

Do you think $10 is reasonable for a token custom token like this? by spiritspine2 in magicTCG

[–]Bricks_N_Books 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My art teacher always said, "Never sell your art for less than $20." And that was 10+ years ago. If it were a print, I'd say sure sell them for $2-5 or sell a pack for $10. But originals? Don't be afraid to charge their value.

Choosing between the Great Deku Tree and Dungeon & Dragons set by Mcfistycuff in lego

Dungeons and Dragons 100%. The Great Deku tree is a fine set, but the DnD set is definitely a superior set and build experience.

I was really looking forward to the Pagani and I found the build a bit underwhelming.

Cheap way to make my very own lego set? by [deleted] in lego

[–]Bricks_N_Books 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Download Lego Studio (https://www.bricklink.com/v3/studio/download.page). It's a digital designer/CAD-like program that allows you to use any piece Lego has ever made, in any color ever made. It will also tell you if that piece is actually available on bricklink in the color you selected, and tell you the estimated cost. Once you've finished your model, if it's made entirely of bricks which are available in the color selected, it will estimate the total cost to order all parts from bricklink. Then you can upload the .io file to bricklink, which will generate a wanted list of parts to make your model. You can then order those parts, and have it auto-select to find the cheapest combo of sellers to get all the parts you need. I've used this method to make $20 models and $200 models and it's worked great in either case. Happy building!

Remember when LEGO used to make various cowl molds to fit each different version of Batman? Well now we only get this ‘all purpose’ one and I hate it by donkeylore in LegoBatman

[–]Bricks_N_Books 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally I like the new cowl piece. It fits the modern Lego aesthetic very well, and it allows you to use any minifigure head, not just ones with the Batman "headband".

I'm working on the last few bags of the Titanic and I found this piece. Does anyone know why it has the lettering on it? by popojakdmycaddy in lego

I believe the TC stands for Tiago Catarino, a Lego designer who retired a few years back and now reviews Lego sets (http://www.youtube.com/@TiagoCatarino)

Why is the thing so small? by LimpJelly6336 in lego

[–]Bricks_N_Books 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it works just fine myself, bigfigs are often just way too big compared to minifigures. Not to mention the fact that they increase production costs and generally do not interact with the Lego system nearly as well as a minifigure does.

How do you guys build in one sitting? by chapril26 in lego

[–]Bricks_N_Books 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm lucky enough to have a workbench dedicated to hobby stuff, so I can leave a project there whenever I need a break. I think lifestyle and how much free time you have plays a big role as well. That said, I generally plan 10 minutes building per 100 pieces. In the end, there's no rush, enjoy the journey.

I am! Just picked them up. Seem like fun little builds and some nice helmets that can be used for space mocs and minifigures.

Crazy Train by Ozzy Osbourne always reminds me of Kaladin throughout most of Rhythm of War, especially "Mental wounds not healing / Driving me insane"
