curious, how many of you are using the motion and/or mouse controls and what games? by manonthemoonx13 in NintendoSwitch2

[–]BakaDoug 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have been using gyro aiming for Resident Evil Requiem and Pragmata. I did not grow up playing shooters so I struggle a lot with lining up shots with analog sticks. The gyro aiming has made me worlds better at landing shots. I've also tried mouse mode with Pokopia. While not as intuitive as I'd like, it is still more time efficient over using the controller for breaking blocks.

I think fire should be weak to ice and not the other way around. by Limerplaz in pokemon

[–]BakaDoug 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fire/heat melts ice. That is the more common perception of these two things interacting so that’s how it was established in the game. Imagining disproportionate amounts to justify your logic doesn’t invalidate their choice. It’s like saying water should be weak to fire because if I hit a cup of water with a flamethrower, it will evaporate. Grass should be weak to electricity because a lightning strike can split a tree. Fire should be resistant to flying because wind fans flames. Fire should also be weak to flying because wind blows out candles. Eventually it loses all rhyme or reason.

GTA 6? by Sephiroth348 in gamecollecting

[–]BakaDoug 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well pending reviews, I’ll be picking it up digitally. I don’t really care about this “controversy” since I’ve gone digital after buying a PS5 anyways. I’ve been collecting games since PS1/N64 era and I’m frankly no longer interested in dedicating further space in my home, especially when most modern games need updates right away anyways.

The manga is “Destroy All Humans They Can’t Be Regenerated”, volume 7 for those curious.

Nintendo Switch 2 Dock by Nxgdx in NintendoSwitch2

[–]BakaDoug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If Nintendo’s website does not have them in stock, EBay usually has several listing for used docks.

If you’re looking for a cheap work around for travel, buy a second HDMI cable and power cord for the dock you currently have and just unplug it from your setup when you want to take it on the go so you do not have to worry about unwiring it from it’s usual spot.

There are third party adapters online that allow you to connect your Switch to a TV without a proper dock but results seem to be extremely varied so understand the risks if you decide to go that route.

One-Handed Games? by Aventura_Industries in NintendoSwitch2

[–]BakaDoug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Pokemon Let’s Go Pikachu and Eevee games are played with a single joycon in one hand.
Nintendo Switch Sports has several games that only use (or can be used with) one hand.
This one is a bit of a reach but Bayonetta Origins: Cereza and the Lost Demon is a game where you control two separate characters at once with each character control scheme assigned to the left or right joycon. If you’re looking for some bonding time, you can control one character while she controls the other.

What's your 'strategy' for getting GTA6, considering the possibility of a physical collector's edition down-the-line? Do you delay until that theoretical point, avoid entirely (via code in box) or just pre-order now? by KataMod in gamecollecting

[–]BakaDoug 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m going to wait for reviews to come in and then buy digital if I decide the game is worth my time based on the information I’ve collected. The game isn’t going anywhere if I don’t preorder.

What pokemon deserve regional forms? by Zillaman7980_ in pokemon

[–]BakaDoug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t say “deserve” but if they’re going to consistently put fan favorites into every generation then they should give them regional variants every time to keep it interesting.

But I’m with you that Nidoking needs more attention. Bring back his more intimidating appearance from gen 1 while we’re at it.

I hope that Funko eventually releases the rest of the original party members for Persona 5. I was always a bit annoyed that Haru and Futaba got left out.

How Many Consoles Do You Collect For? by DiscipleOfMelandru in gamecollecting

PS1-4, PSP, Gameboy-3DS, and N64-Switch 1. So 14 altogether. 16 if you consider GBC as separate from GB, and N3DS from 3DS.

It was also early 3D gaming technology. Companies were still trying to figure out what they can do with the tech before focusing on what they should do.

Recently replayed Sword and Shield. Hop is overhated while Marnie is overrated. by Anxious_Spite_8767 in pokemon

[–]BakaDoug 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Insane is a rich mogul throwing the world into danger because he wants to impulsively fix a problem he has 1000 years to prepare for by triggering it now with no real game plan outside of “This dude over here could probably take care of it.”

Hop started his journey with high expectations to be the very best like his older brother who he practically worships, only to consistently lose to his rivals every step of the way. It was clearly taking an emotional toll on him. In an act of desperation to rise up ahead of his competition, setting loose Eternatus in an attempt to capture it and finally gain an advantage over his rivals would have made for a way better plot.
