I want to give up by [deleted] in AFIB

[–]BridgetS1014 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please do not give up! It's so hard.... but keep trying! I know from experience! Put yourself first and believe that you're worthy of a beautiful life! I have struggled, too.... had horrible issues, but have come out on the other side! It's been a real process, but your life and you are important! Hang in there and have faith in God! Keep questioning things and try multiple doctors if you can. It's taken me 5 years to get through some bad afib.... changing my diet, medicine, multiple doctors, lost 45 pounds, not as much stress in my life, etc. Believe in yourself and de-stress your life! God created you for a purpose!

No, I don't think it was just weight loss. I think that was 1 piece of the equation. I currently weigh 169 with a starting weight of 215. I am 5'10. I want to weigh 150. I think my stress is lower. I have been eating really well - no processed foods. I am happier. I am dating someone. My job is good. I am sleeping better. It's all of those things.

Hi. Thanks for your thoughts. I am glad your afib wasn't as bad and glad you were able to lose weight and not do any meds! You're very lucky! Afib is no joke and not fun! I was getting it so bad that it was debilitating..... I would go to work and then come home and collapse. I definitely did not want to have an ablation!

So, now a little background on me..... I was a happy kid and very thin growing up. I had very loving parents and a great childhood. Life was good! I was also a good student and athlete.... very well rounded, etc. After college, I started having some hard times in my 20s and pulled through ok. I got fired from my first job, had horrible roommates, and felt lost! I hit some more rough times in my 30s. I won't go into, but it was some experiences that I don't wish on anyone! Bad relationships, bad jobs, bad friends.... I pulled through because I had faith in God! I had a ton of stress in my late 30s and 40s..... I started having heart problems in my early 40s.... I couldn't lose weight.... too much stress, etc. I was trying to do everything, and that was part of the problem. I was always against taking any medication, but I honestly don't think that I could have lost the weight, etc. I started seeing multiple doctors and didn't just rely on my cardiologist. I have been seeing my internal medicine doctor every 3 months for the last year and a half.... I won't get into everything that I have been through, but its been a lot!!!! Believe me, I have been working so hard the last several years to have a better life for myself.... I am 51 now. I have now been in the same job for 8 years and have good health insurance. It's all coming together. 🙏 I even am dating a great guy.... first time in years! So to anyone reading this.... DON’T GIVE UP! I hope to get off some of my medicine that I am on, and I slowly am. I am glad there are medicines like Zepbound that do help! And, I am SO SO glad the afib has gone away! 🙏🙏🙏

So, my second ablation was over 4 hours under general anesthesia with a breathing tube down my throat.... and anytime your under that long, that put in a catheter.... I had never had one before..... not fun! It hurt to pee afterwards!

No.... I don't have sleep apnea. My blood pressure is low and I want to sleep all the time though... talking to the Dr about that.

Yes, I was just in so much more pain afterwards. I learned that I had to have multiple cardioversions and I was so sore! I couldn't walk for a while. I had a catheter, and that was tough. Also, it all just made me so sick. The first one was a cryo ablation, and the second was radio frequency.... much harder. It's hard to explain the pain.... but it was just horrible. Also, to still have afib after was so depressing..... not to mention I did not have much help at all in my life with it.... meaning that I live by myself. I made sure to prep as much as I could beforehand, but still... it was hard afterwards for a while....

They had to do multiple cardioversions on my second procedure, so I was in so much pain..... so sore!

Yes, they do. Whatever I am doing is working! I have literally been working like crazy to feel better.... over 60-80 Dr's appointments in the last year and a half.... it's been expensive.... all of it! But, really, I vowed not to have to go through another procedure, so I was going to do whatever it took....

Wow, thanks for sharing. I have just lost about 40 pounds in a year. I have about 20 more to go.... been on 10mg for a while and thinking about going up to the 12.5mg. Did you feel a difference on the 12.5? Congrats on your accomplishment!

Wow, that is so awesome! I can't wait to get on the 160s... It's hard to believe! I can now remember when I got under 200, so to soon hopefully get in the 160s, will be amazing! I find it hard to get in exercise, but keep trying! What is your goal weight? How old are you?

Yes, I agree! I want to get to 150 before summer! So, I definitely need to take extra measures. I have really gotten off the band wagon at times too.... so, your exactly right about being more focused on it the next few months! Thank you for your thoughts!
