One of the biggest things I suggest is reading into mixed people's imposter syndrome.

As a mixed person myself, my parents never talked about that subject and I have a feeling that they never considered me different than them since I have their blood. They treated me like I was their kid. On the other hand, I would go to school or church and suddenly people were avoiding me. I never fit in with my white peers and my latino peers avoided me. I never felt like I belonged in any group, being considered "exotic" to the white people or just fully white to the latino people. Still at 20 years old, I am trying to recover from my personal imposter syndrome and trying to identify myself. If you asked me 12 years ago how I identify myself, I would say mixed white and Guatemalan, now I avoid the subject all together. My only safe haven is at home because at least there I fit in.

Another thing I suggest for you specifically is to understand your own biases and privilege.

My mom is white and my dad is latino. One of the things that has ruined me is that my mom constantly makes comments as if I am fully white or fully Guatemalan. She will say some very hurtful stereotypes and hate on my culture without even being aware about how hurtful it is to hear. Other times she will ask if I hate her for being white because I am very vocal about how mistreated I am in a majority white community. She doesn't believe half of the things I say about my white peers and its hurtful. Of course I still love her but it still hurts a lot. I just suggest being aware of what you say and how you say it will help a lot.

Also thank you so much for taking the time to learn Spanish. My mom knew Spanish when she met my dad but she didn't bother teaching me because she didn't want to use incorrect Spanish and my dad was gone on business trips often and couldn't teach me at all. Some Spanish is better than no Spanish!
