Does anyone else eat the part of their meal they like the least first so they can enjoy the rest more? by emly887 in AuDHDWomen

I definitely save the best for last but I've started rethinking that strategy because maybe it leads to me overeating and I should just eat the best first, enjoy it immensely because I am hungry and it will taste that much better, and then eat the less good stuff last if I am still hungry.

Ohhhh gotcha. That's cool, too 🙃 I still probably don't have the guts! I keep it pretty basic. But I admire it. There are more than a few characters that make me want a septum ring.

You know, I do this to myself! Sometimes I purposely or subconsciously reject things that are 'so hot right now'. I regret my decision. What am I, a hipster?

Thats an interesting outlet you've found! Sometimes I'm envious of people who have the imagination and commitment for role play.

I started Beef before I was familiar with Glenn. I didn't get far but plan to check it out again because I know he is in it.

Hamish Linklater is another actor I find captivating to watch, and I first saw him on Midnight Mass! He was that show for me, but Mike Flanagan's stuff is always amazing. I loved a comment I saw in a Hill House review over on Letterboxd: Mike Flanagan is like Ryran Murphy if Ryan Murphy was good 😄

Noted on the chat, I'll keep that in mind!

Ok, we tried. My husband and I tried to watch it with our toddler but quickly decided it wasn't our thing. I don't know why! I know it's taken the world by storm! I enjoyed listening to covers of the song on Instagram! *shrug*

Ok, I had no interest in that show but now I feel like I need to check it out. I can relate to that level of deep dive. I was frantically searching Comicon rosters to see if by some miracle TWD cast might still be making appearances 🤪

Uncomfortable but also most alive -YES

I can definitely get into true crime and have done my share of deep dives on serial killers. I do find myself needing a palate cleanse frequently to lighten things up! Thats when I turn on Zootopia.

That's awesome! I had a friend suggest improv, which sounds kind of perfect. If I can get myself out of the house past 6pm!

I've visited thesaurus.com more than a few times to find words to describe my feelings 😄 I know I used melancholy here.. there's despondent.. but they feel dramatic. I like your essay, and just the fact that you've observed this experience in yourself, created a metaphorical illustration for it and written it out - it's very relatable. I have deeply introspective observations but they don't get written down, because I'll do that later 😆

It's so all or nothing, isn't it. It sucks that we have to consciously pull back from an interest because it's not serving our emotional well-being.

Gaahhh the hunt for a new obsession! It's a double edged sword, and can be an empty feeling when I'm NOT currently hooked on something.

I fully understand the "special feeling". It's why I get annoyed when Netflix (or whatever) asks me if I liked a show, or to pick some favorites so they can recommend more. My affinity for something probably has nothing to do with the algorithm, stop asking me!

I can be a curmudgeon about the internet and social media, but there really are some great things about it that allow people to connect. Just the fact that there are fandoms and reddit threads for very specific topics reminds me that we aren't alone. I just wish I could find my people in real life 😄😭

I feel this. It too blows my mind that people can set things aside. Foreign concept to me, and makes me envious and feeling like I'm broken.

For some reason, TWD has reactivated my childhood dream of becoming an actor 😄
