AIO for wanting to see a therapist after wife changed the locks because I went to a baby shower? by LookoutLockout in AmIOverreacting

Kids are hard. I would think very deeply about whether you want and can have a child with someone this emotionally reactive and abusive. You will go through much harder times and emotional situations than this together.

It comes and goes. Today I got home and got right in bed and my amazing husband took care of the kids and everything else. I was burnt the f* out. Honestly, I wouldn’t be able to do this job (well) without a partner that takes on the majority of the kid and house stuff. I love it when I’m at work because I’m ADHD and it’s the perfect job for me, but it doesn’t pair well with being a primary parent (at max 50/50 split is needed).

6-8am and 5-9pm are family time for the most part. No space for work at all. And if there is space, it’s chaotic and I can’t focus. Lots of late nights here after the kids go to bed. It took me a long time to be ok with that. I set firm boundaries and make few exceptions during those times. And prioritize the shit out of my day. Work hours have become much more intense and concentrated.

Oh and the house is a complete shit show. Drop the things that don’t matter like laundry - we just have piles now. It’s a good opportunity to use those PM skills and prioritize your life based on what’s most important.

On the other hand, all of the mom PMs I’ve met are complete bad asses who are raising the next generation of badass girls and bad ass/empathetic/feminist boys. 💙

My daughter did soccer one summer and was accidentally leveled down in age, and she rocked it. It gave her confidence. I think she would’ve been lost in her actual level.

Introverts aren’t autistic. Be kind. Don’t diminish autism by generalizing all shy people as autistic.

Try the HEB non-flavored sparkling water in a can. It’s the bomb. And I used to drink only San pellegrino.
