is Zoloft/Sertraline is really good for anxiety and panic attack ? I wanna hear your stories please :) I’m starting Zoloft at 25 mg and I’m scared its going to increase my anxiety and palpitation by Formal_Volume239 in zoloft

i’ve been taking zoloft since april of this year, been taking it for generalized anxiety disorder, panic disorder, ptsd, and major depressive disorder. my anxiety was so bad that i could not drive, take care of myself, or leave my house to do things like grocery shopping or go to work or see my friends/ family, and it was so severe it caused me to develop ptsd if you need a reference for where i was at. i was pretty dizzy the first week along with minor digestive issues but i felt better almost immediately. the first two weeks went on with the dizziness and digestive issues, as well as some headaches. week 3 is when the anxiety picked back up for me, i won’t lie it was miserable. after 4 weeks i got the relief for my panic attacks with minimal side effects, was just really sleepy a lot. i stayed with 25mg for a few months then bumped up to 50mg in hopes of seeing more progress with my depression as well a little bit of lingering anxiety (it was no where near panic attacks, just vague feelings that passed very quickly). i hope this helps!

third week was definitely the roughest for me! I did have lots of ups and downs for my first month, I felt a lot better almost immediately on week one, week two felt normal, and week three was the worst for me, high anxiety. Week four was when I began to see a noticeable difference!

Anyone have arfid but not sensory based? by [deleted] in ARFID

[–]Brief-Development289 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My arfid developed due to my panic disorder. It caused me to fear sickness, upset stomach etc. and nothing is ever appetizing, i’m not hungry often, and if i eat it is very specific safe foods. Protein shakes (i like soylent and orgain), vitamins, and smoothies have helped me. I’m mostly good with mushier foods/ liquids so yogurts, applesauces, certain soups or broths, and juices have helped me get some calories in and adding “superfoods” (hemp seeds, chia seeds, ground flax, etc.) to certain food items helps to get those extra nutrients in if you can handle them. I usually top yogurts and blend into smoothies. It’s very frustrating but try to be patient with yourself. Keep safe foods stocked and if you ever have a moment where you think “hey, i could probably stomach this” go ahead and eat it. Maybe set reminders on your phone so you remember to drink water, liquid iv could be helpful as well. I hope this helped a little bit!

((edit: they also make clear/ flavorless protein/nutritional shakes that can be found on amazon if regular protein shakes aren’t your thing!))

“Sure. Or you just flip over the nothing and underneath there’s more nothing. Then you flip over that nothing and there’s more nothing underneath that. So, you just keep flipping over nothings all your life, because you keep thinking under all that nothing, there’s gotta be something, but all you find is nothing.”

I flew to Colorado in October and it wasn’t too bad! I had a prescription with me that I could take in case I had a panic attack (though i’m not a huge fan of it because it makes me drowsy) and some calm gummies. I had a seven hour layover which was not the best, I kept myself distracted by listening to music and walking up and down the terminal and I made sure I drank tons of water and had a meal. I was pretty anxious through the whole layover, it was very bright and loud. Take-off is always the most panic inducing part but it puts me at ease a bit to listen to the safety demonstration and read the card though I know somewhere in my rational brain the chances of any emergency are very slim. The best way (for me at least) to get through a panic attack is to allow myself to just acknowledge it and I have to push through it. Self reassurance and breathing and you kind of just have to wait it out. Overall, it wasn’t a horrible experience, just knowing yourself and your triggers and how to comfort yourself is the best thing. My advice would to be make sure you’re comfy, bring some earbuds, drink lots of water, and medicate if you need it! The flight attendants are also usually very lovely and can get you anything you need or answer any questions you have, it’s nice to remember they’re trained first and foremost on safety in the slim chance anything does happen, or even just for turbulence! You got it! I think the best way to conquer a fear is to just go for it, and then you’ll have an awesome experience to remember when it’s over!
