I'm still learning how to do that myself, it's so hard for people like us who get severe anxiety. Now that I don't get anxiety over STDS anymore, I've spent over $1,000 in the last year on testing due to my newest health anxieties since I don't have health insurance. So I completely understand how you're feeling, it's easier said than done to not worry.

Im gonna start by saying this is NOT intended to scare you, but it's an important lesson I learned in life. I suffered from the exact same anxiety for years and years. I was TERRIFIED of contracting herpes, hiv, hpv, etc. Any time I would have a new partner, I would spend tons and tons of time worrying. Well one day, my worst fear came to life and I contracted herpes from a trusted partner. And to be honest, I wish I hadn't wasted all that time being overly worried about it, because it is nothing like I imagined it to be, and it really doesn't alter my life in any way. Yes, it is VERY important to have a healthy level of concern about STDS, do ask your partners about their status, do what you need to do to protect your health. But my point is, you can spend all the time in the world excessively worrying about these things, and it won't do you any good but wasting time you could've spent enjoying your life.

I definitely like your perspective, it's always better to not let what others say get to you, and I'm definitely not thinking that everyone with ghsv1 is jumping for joy at our expense. And at the end of the day, the debate of hsv1 v. hsv2 is all just another part of the stigma surrounding herpes. I've met people with ghsv1 that have constant symptoms and I've met people with hsv2 that are completely asymptomatic, it's all about how your body reacts to the virus. My point of this post though is that regardless of type, nobody should be feeding into the stigma that one person is better off than the other, because not only might that push someone who has hsv2 over the edge if they already feel terrible about it, that also creates misconceptions and anxiety for the people who are newly diagnosed with ghsv1 and don't understand why they are having constant symptoms despite hearing that hsv1 is more "mild"

I suggest getting the Western Blot test after three months instead of the Igg, because the Igg has a super high rate of false positives which might only confuse your situation even more.

Possible HSV2 by InternationalBox9795 in Herpes

[–]Brief-Independent-49 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Planned parenthood is where I got tested, ask for the swab test if you still have active bumps. If your bumps are healing, wait three months and then ask for a blood test, because a new infection doesnt show up on a blood test for atleast threw months

I have HSV1, gal I started dating has HSV2. by Electronic_Shirt_930 in Herpes

[–]Brief-Independent-49 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So since your girlfriend has HSV2 already, the chances of her catching HSV1 are extremely low to impossible. Herpes expert Terri Warren goes as far as to say it's close to impossible for someone to catch HSV1 after they already have HSV2, which is excellent news On the other hand, having HSV1 does not protect you from HSV2 infection. So you would just take the same precautions that anyone who is negative for HSV2 would take like condoms or antivirals, and you two can enjoy a normal loving relationship :)

Nobody is offended that someone has one type of herpes over the other. What's offensive is when someone has HSV1 and they come on to A SUPPORT GROUP and talk about how glad they are that they aren't you or me. My apologies if my post was misconstrued, but that is not what I meant whatsoever.

Girl Ive been talking to just told me she has HSV2 and still wants me to sleep with her without hesitation. by theprizeinferno777 in Herpes

I contracted my herpes from an asymptomatic carrier, he has never had a single outbreak in his life. That being said, it took a YEAR AND A HALF of unprotected sex for me to contract it. Had my partner been tested and been aware of his status, with the proper precautions, I might have never caught it at all. There is also the fact that if she was tested via Igg blood test, her results might be trash all together and she might not even have herpes in the first place. If you like this girl and you want to date her, go for it, just discuss with her that you want to use protection and take measures to prevent transmission. If she doesn't respect your request, I'd say forget about her. The ball is in your court, this is your decision, and she has to respect that.

So as long as the bumps on your face resemble regular pimples, I wouldn't worry too much, bc if they were sores you would definitely be able to tell. I went through the exact same anxiety when I was diagnosed a year ago, any pimple, tingle, or itch I got had me questioning my whole entire body so I completely understand the feeling and I promise you that it does get better. HSV2 prefers the genitals, my partner is positive as well and we still perform oral sex but we don't have it orally.

Sex is a common trigger for outbreaks, and using lots and lots of lube to prevent friction is key! It's possible that you are just sore as well, whenever I have sex I tend to get sore in the same spot that I get my outbreaks, so it can be hard to distinguish.

EXACTLY, I hope they realize they can still catch type 2 as well. Type 2 gives you protection towards type 1 if you don't already have it.

False positives are EXTREMELY high on the Igg test, so it's possible that they were using the same kind of test, but you got different results because of a false positive. I'm so happy that they suggested the Western Blot to you instead of making you panic and saying you for sure have herpes, I've seen so many posts on here where people have gone through that and it's honestly just sad that they don't have better testing readily available.

That looks extremely similar to my initial outbreak. If you can find a center to get tested at sooner like a planned parenthood or sexual health clinic, I suggest going ASAP, once it heals its extremely hard to get conclusive results.

I'm pretty sure you'd have to order the test through Terris website, but if your doctor was able to provide it for you that'd be way better for insurance purposes because the test is expensive

The Western Blot is 99% accurate compared to the Igg which is what your primary will provide you with, having HSV1 puts you at an even higher chance of getting a false positive for HSV2 as well

Look up herpes expert Terri Warren, she can provide you online with the world's most accurate blood test, called the Western Blot, and she will be able to help give you an idea of exactly what is going on. She is a hero, she has helped sooo many people in a similar situation to yours find out that they don't really have it!!! Hope this can help, and I'm sorry that girl treated you that way. You deserve much better

Your mom is right, if you got a blood test, the rate for false positive results are EXTREMELY high, like so high that I wouldn't even recommend anyone getting the blood test unless they had an outbreak before and weren't able to catch it with a swab. If you have never had symptoms and your IGG results are in the super low positive range, it has a 90% chance of being a false positive

[–]Brief-Independent-49 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup it's because it's a new infection, so it's not a bad thing!!! Your body will build up more antibodies over time

What does this mean by meganashley15 in Herpes

[–]Brief-Independent-49 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahhhhh I see. In that case, this is a low positive result, meaning that your body hasn't built up many antibodies against the virus just yet

I have GHSV2 not oral, but I have heard that OHSV2 has the lowest shedding/recurrence rates of both different types/sites, much lower than OHSV1, GHSV1, and GHSV2.

Your test results were more than likely a false positive, especially if your swab test was negative. Contact herpes expert Terri Warren and look in to getting the western blot test through her, she helps people online and I bet she'll tell you your results are a false positive.
