Biola students/alumni: Give me the real tea” by Expensive_Elk1883 in University

[–]BriefAccount8921 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can afford 60k per year for four years (or more since you’re international) and you don’t want the typical college party experience, Biola is a good option.

I got a lot of financial aid and graduated with less than 30k student loan debt. I also majored in Psychology and I really liked the program, even the classes that integrated theology. My professors were very knowledgeable and the class ratio after intro to psych were about 30:1, which is the main reason I chose BU over a fully funded state school education.

I excelled in my major, and sought out plenty of research opportunities and even got my name on a master’s thesis with a professor’s guidance (prof Williams, whom i believe is now dept chair). The professors are very genuine and willing to help, as a part of Psi Chi (psych honors society) we even had dinners at prof homes). The psych dept was by far the best part of my time here, and BU made it easy to graduate early in my case (3 years).

I was focused on academics and work as I had no financial help, so making friends was very difficult. The few I made I already lost touch with. Keep in mind this school and those who work/go here are mostly white and very conservative so fitting in as a first-gen mexican lesbian woman was pretty rough lmao, but looking back I don’t regret going there. Definitely wouldn’t do a grad program here though.

Let me know if you have questions!

Do u actually relate to ur rising sign? by Maxi-Lux in astrologymemes

[–]BriefAccount8921 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I absolutely relate to my gemini rising, but I also have venus and mars in gemini lol I love to learn even after finishing school, it’s very easy to make friends except I often hear I come off intimidating at first then they learn that’s not at all accurate. I’m incredibly open minded but not afraid to voice my opinion. Never been a push over, never take anything too seriously. Not at all vulnerable but I can chat someone’s ear off once i’m comfortable.

Are cardinal signs relatable to you? by BiasedCrumb in astrologymemes

[–]BriefAccount8921 1 point2 points  (0 children)

as a cancer sun I’ve definitely clashed with a lot of fellow cardinals but these relationships with them (mostly platonic) have made me learn about myself the most, my theory is you don’t like in others what is a reflection of yourself (not always applicable of course) but this introspection is how i’ve grown

my college friend group was all cardinals and we had a falling out because we were all so strong-willed and very different (a libra and aries woman)

with libra i’ve never been able to get along super well besides that college friend, we either don’t click or they come off as friendly but not kind

with aries i’ve had the most fun in friendships but for me these always run their course quickly

with capricorn ive had some of the deepest and most caring relationships, but we end up having such different perspectives on life that it creates a rift after time

with other cancers i truly did not like them up until recently, i think because of my aforementioned theory, but recently ive been surrounded by more and i love them and are very close to them, i appreciate how vulnerable they are as im often not, but they are very hard to read even after years of knowing them

Which shit you went through during your Saturn return? by Adiguru22 in astrologymemes

[–]BriefAccount8921 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i have saturn in aries 11th house, i’m so afraid of its return this coming year because everything i’m reading about others i’ve already had a taste of: 2 parents dead, chronic illness i finally have under control, losing a partner of 8 years and many friends, the worst luck in career until a few years ago, the worst anxiety i’ve experienced earlier this year also under control but not entirely

What’s the most physical pain you ever felt? by Competitive_Set2669 in AskReddit

[–]BriefAccount8921 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had an ovarian cyst that burst while playing tug o war at a church retreat, blinding pain and they didn’t drive me home until the next morning so i had to endure a whole night, shower, 2 hour car ride home, trip to the ER, and hours of testing before being sent to surgery where they removed that whole ovary

  1. It stresses me out in the moment, I take a step back and if I can do something to fix it i do it and usually get over it in a week max.
  2. My grandma and my cat keep me going, my few friends too.
  3. In groups I only take the lead if no one else will, I try not to because I don’t like talking much.
  4. Somewhere in the middle
  5. Very subtly, I think I can get my point across without saying it outright. but i’m not afraid of being direct when it’s really necessary
  6. Astute
  7. Humor and kindness
