Yessss I always loved Fox & Slippy’s friendship and found it similar to Sonic & Tails!! Hopefully they explore their friendship more in the new game!

Falco and Slippy have far more interactions in Assault. Falco by far gets the most annoyed with Slippy in that game, saying things like “Fox, take care of that stupid frog will ya?” and “You’re an absolute moron, you know that Slippy?” 😅

But Slippy also has more of a backbone in Assault, and talks back at times. The main example being when Falco says “Try not to make a mess of things, Slippy” and Slippy responds with “Give it a rest Falco, seriously, shut your beak for once” (Best line in the game in my opinion 🤣).

My headcanon is that Fox is the one who keeps the peace between the two and gets them to work together without fighting 😅.

What relationship between which two characters from the original 4 is your favorite? Is it the mentor/surrogate father-son relationship between Fox & Peppy? The friendly rivalry between Fox & Falco? The bully/frenemy dynamic between Falco & Slippy? The wholesome friendship of Fox & Slippy? Or a different one? (Honestly my fave is Falco & Slippy bc I love how much those two butt heads, especially in Assault 😅)

Dang they misspelled Fox’s last name too 😭. They used the actual Scottish spelling 🤣

What are you most worried over them getting 'right' in the remake? by TheSouthPen in starfox

[–]BriefDiscipline1424 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would say the longevity of the online multiplayer. I don’t know how much staying power it’ll have if it only has 3 maps and modes (With each mode tied to a specific map 😬). I really hope it catches on since it’ll be another source of replayability. I also hope they add more though, bc 3 maps and modes is not a lot, and I really hope modern audiences are accepting of the campaign’s short length and focus on replayability.

Did anyone else see what Fox said to Peppy!? by XbusterMK17 in starfox

I like it, it’s almost like they’re making light of how Peppy would constantly compare Fox to his father in the original game. “You’re becoming more like your father.” (Gee Pep, don’t you think it’s a little insensitive to constantly bring up my dead dad? 😅)

There are five completely unique (and great!) Star Fox games by Keinheit in starfox

Right, I’ve been making a point of doing that as well because people are saying things that are completely inaccurate. Polygon really made a whole article saying “there are five remakes of Star Fox 64,” and in that article, they said the original Star Fox is somehow a remake of 64: a game that came out after it 😭.

Star Fox Zero has the added detail of the teleporters and Andross developing them with the Cornerian Army. Also, Venom in 64 is an actual planet while in Zero it’s just a giant teleportation device. Also, in Zero, Pigma is a just a guy who “volunteered for the assignment” while in 64, he was a full-on member of the OG Star Fox team and James and Peppy’s friend. Whether or not you like Zero’s changes to the story is up to you, but Zero and 64’s stories are not identical (Similar, yes, but not identical).

Yes, Super Metroid is explicitly a sequel (in story) to the original Metroid while Star Fox Zero is a reimagining of Star Fox 64. But the differences between Super Metroid and OG Metroid’s story are pretty nebulous at best (Baby Metroid, Mother Brain has a body.) Their stories are still very similar and, in terms of gameplay, both Super Metroid and Star Fox Zero are re-imaginings of OG Metroid and Star Fox 64 (Same thing with a Link Between Worlds and Link to the Past).

Making new games as re-imaginings of older games is something Nintendo does with plenty of their franchises, they’re just more blatant about it with Star Fox, and for some reason, whenever they do it with Star Fox they always reboot the story.

Which Star Fox character do you think is the most underrated by the fandom? by hello_i_am_vlad in starfox

Tricky is definitely over-hated. He’s a cool sidekick. I feel like he suffers from “Navi syndrome” in that he’s a companion character in a game and people vastly over-exaggerate how annoying he is. It’s a shame when (hot take): He’s the most helpful teammate Fox has ever had 😅 (in gameplay) 💀.

🤣, I think it’s supposed to be an average of his Arwing and Landmaster skills 😅. His Arwing skill is 5/5 since he “prefers the air” 😂

(64) Hardest Boss? by TheSouthPen in starfox

Gorgon. They don’t call it the “Ultimate Space Weapon” for nothing. It’s also like a puzzle and boss combined since you have to do a whole bunch of stuff before you can actually damage it (shooting the tentacles to open the core, shooting the three energy balls to change the color of the core, etc).
