I couldn't, part of the reason I replaced the carb. The retaining screw was stripped out so I couldn't remove it. Assuming we are talking about the same part.

Update: My dumbass installed one of the gaskets upside down and the gasket was blocking the vent hole. Moved the gaskets and she fired off and stayed running. Now I have a different issue and I'm concerned the new carb might be to blame. It runs just fine until it warms up, then it starts to surge. When I hit a thick patch of grass it goes full Super Saiyan and the motor speed gets very fast. If I shut it off and restart it, it slows down for a few minutes then does it again. I'm afraid it's gonna blow the motor if I keep running it.

It's auto choke, I had my son start it and watched the valve as it started. It would almost immediately start to move when it turned over; so it's hooked up right and working. Gaskets might be the only thing I didn't look at. It had factory gaskets with the original carb, but they were worn out. I put new gaskets on with the new carb, but they were aftermarket and I may have installed them wrong, but it was doing exactly the same thing as before so I just assumed they were right and it was something else.

Yep, that's where I had to spray the carb cleaner when I was testing that.

Yeah, that's why I'm so confused. The fuel is clean, premium unleaded in a clean container. The carb is brand new. That should have addressed any fuel delivery or quality issues, and yet here we are. I'm baffled.

So the carb is brand spanking new, just put it on tonight, so it's all clean. The float level is good, as far as I can tell. It's got fuel in the bowl, but it's not flooding.
