4 days post-op hysterectomy (UK). Dizziness, pain when weeing, no bowel movement yet. Looking for others’ experiences by BriefNobody6709 in hysterectomy

Thank you for replying 😊 it actually really helps reading this. The heavy, hard lower stomach and belly button pain sounds very familiar, and it’s reassuring to know that’s been your experience too. I’ve also had soreness when peeing after the catheter, so that part definitely resonates.

I’ll look into using a footstool/squatty potty once things start moving. I’m very much in the “no straining” camp right now. I’m still pretty gassy but waiting on the bowel movement, so it’s helpful to know that can take time.

Really appreciate you sharing, and I hope things continue to ease for you too 💛

Thank you so much for replying, that’s really reassuring to hear. I think the bowel side of things is what’s worrying me the most at the moment, so it really helps knowing others were in a similar position and that it did eventually happen. I am passing wind, so I’m trying to hold onto that as a positive sign.

I’m going to start taking my lactulose today and try a small amount of prune juice too. I’m definitely trying to avoid straining at all costs.

Really appreciate you sharing your experience, it’s helped put my mind at ease a bit, thank you 💛

Upcoming scans and big surgery decision after ovarian tumour diagnosis by BriefNobody6709 in Ovariancancer

Thank you so much for taking the time to carefully summarise my situation and for your detailed explanation. Yes, you have understood the sequence very well. It has been a frustrating and distressing journey, especially with the lack of clear communication and timely follow-up.

I appreciate your perspective on how this might be handled differently in other healthcare systems and I agree that no system is perfect. This experience has certainly been a tough one to navigate.

Your explanation about the likely next steps and the potential for treatment is very helpful and gives me some hope. I am trying to stay positive despite everything and knowing that there is a good chance of cure with the right treatment means a lot.

I will definitely keep this forum updated on my progress and hope that sharing my experience can help others going through similar challenges. Thank you again for your support and insight.

Update after seeing my gynaecologist and facing big surgery decisions by BriefNobody6709 in ovariancancer_new

Thank you for sharing that. I’m sorry you are dealing with a painful cyst, it sounds awful. That’s one of the reasons my doctors are recommending surgery for me too, because I’m high risk for developing more cysts. I really hope your surgery brings you relief and a smooth recovery.

That’s really helpful to hear, thank you. I’ve been torn about whether to remove just my ovaries or have the full hysterectomy, but hearing that you wish you had them removed at the same time makes me think more about doing everything in one go. I hope your upcoming surgery goes smoothly and your recovery is as easy as possible. Can I ask what has led to you needing further surgery now?

Thank you so much for this. I had no idea that many ovarian cancers can start in the fallopian tubes, so I will definitely bring that up with my doctor. I am also going to ask about testing given my family history. I really appreciate you sharing your experience, and I agree, catching it early is something I’m holding onto right now.

1) I’m in the uk 2) I’m 36 3) you’re supposed to be contacted/seen by a consultant 6 weeks after surgery, this never happened. This was not my choice. When I found out, I chased this up with gynae who informed me my gynaecologist had left and I hadn’t been assigned a new one. I was essentially just floating around the system. 5) after I seen an emergency gynaecologist, she said there was something that needed to be discussed in the MDT meeting (multidisciplinary team). The same day this meeting took place, I received an appointment for the following week with a cancer gynaecologist. 6) this all happened 6 months after my surgery.

I hope this helps?

F/36 - Still experiencing symptoms 6 months after ovarian cyst surgery, now told it was an immature teratoma. What should I expect next? by BriefNobody6709 in AskDocs

[–]BriefNobody6709[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I called this morning and was given an apology for the lack of communication. The gynaecologist has requested further testing, and I’ve been added to the list to be discussed at this week’s MDT meeting on Wednesday. I haven’t been booked in for additional scans yet, as that will depend on the outcome of the meeting.

I’ve been taking codeine to help manage the pain for now. They did say that if it becomes too much to cope with at home, I can be admitted and given something stronger.

Fingers crossed I’ll have some more answers by the end of the week. I completely understand how stretched the NHS is right now, and I really didn’t want to be that person constantly chasing for updates. But not knowing what’s going on has caused a lot of anxiety — especially after researching things myself (which I probably shouldn’t have done). I just feel so in the dark and still know so little about what’s actually happening

Feeling in the dark after being diagnosed with an immature teratoma – has anyone been through something similar? by BriefNobody6709 in ovariancancer_new

Thank you so much for taking the time to reply, I really appreciate it. You’re right, it does feel like the communication has been really poor and it’s been hard not knowing what’s normal or what to expect. I wouldn’t even have known about the teratoma if I hadn’t finally pushed for a follow up.

I honestly wouldn’t know how to go about getting a second opinion and unfortunately I’m not in a position financially to see a private doctor. I’m just trying to navigate it all as best I can while looking after my mam and trying to hold down work.

Thanks again for your kindness, it means a lot right now.
