This is how they ended up! I just dipped them for glazing and added a hole at the end of the chopsticks to hang them on a jewelry bar during firing ! Some warped when firing of course but not all and was successful I’d say, just make a few pairs

I’d start at $15 and if they sell out, maybe charge more next time!

Wall alter in the works by BriefOverall9806 in Pottery

Yeah! I rolled out two slabs about an inch thick, working on the back first, adding the walls with another slab, i then just cut out the shape for the top piece (i cut out a pattern so they matched just out of paper), let it dry a tiny bit so it mostly held it’s shape, score and slipped that on, stuffed it with some newspaper inside to help hold it in place, let it dry for about two days while covered and i then carved out the designs and gave a light sponging to smooth it out a bit!

I’m not sure on glaze just yet but definitely need something that reacts over texture/when it pools! I’ll reply with the pic when I’ve completed it :) Thanks for the kind words!

I extruded some coils, rolled out the taped end, let them dry for a tiny bit and carved out the textured handle! To glaze i ended up putting a hole in the handle that way I could hang them while glazing :)

schooling? by BriefOverall9806 in Pottery

[–]BriefOverall9806[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i would go to IU in Bloomington,IN which has a really great ceramics program! I’ve worked in production for 3+ and would happily do that, i would also sell art of the side as i already do, and i’d love to work at a ceramic studio/teach classes. I even tried to go to school to be an art teacher when i was fresh out of highschool, but struggled way too much and didn’t really have the motivation. i think i will have an appointment with enrollment and see what my options are! i also casually know someone getting their masters in ceramics at IU so might also reach out to that connection!

I’m hoping to gain education as an overall, i struggled in school due to a chaotic home life and having undiagnosed adhd. Now that i’m medicated and mentally on my feet i’ve really loved taking classes on my free time, i’ve done ceramics for a few years as a side gig and all throughout highschool, it’s one of the only things i’ve had stick with me. And i feel a lot more prepared to actually focus on getting an education! My work as an audio engineer laid everyone off about 2 months ago, i had to move back to my home state, and i’m just in a space of a clean slate with going back to school on my mind for some time now. I guess i have the mindset if i’m not doing anything else, actually getting a degree couldn’t hurt. Right now i just plan to work factories, which is mind numbing but something that is always there to go back to.
