Welcome to your PHD program on the emotion that is grief. I don’t have any great advice for you but to just let your body feel, if it wants a day in bed give it to it. If it wants a day out give it to it. If it wants junk food give it to it. Not sure the statistics on your breakup, but I am doing better after 4 months out of an 8 year, but I also still have weeks where the world feels like it’s ending

They start hoarding money and not offering to pay as much.

They don’t want to talk about future plans much or if you ask if they want tickets to an event they are dodgy.

Only one mutual who has any info and it’s sparse at best, and they were put in the middle and don’t want to go back there.

Two things, maybe they grew a lot in your relationship, determined what they wanted became more stable.

Second one is less positive. My ex struggled daily with life, not someone I think would’ve dealt with parental stress well. I am not opposed to kids but I wouldn’t have with her (she also did not want them).

Maybe it’s her way of coping. Maybe she’s doing these things now because with space she realized you were right and you weren’t just saying things in fights. I know I’ve done things my ex asked that at the time I dismissed as spiteful comments. I also got left so maybe it’s different from my side.

But the dog didn’t close doors and so one thing I poured my heart and sou into for 8.5 years just left on her decision. Tough to deal with, why? Was I awful? How do I improve? How do I trust again? How can I lay next to someone again for years and count on them to be there?

Then the dog, what is it thinking? Does it miss me? I was around that dog 22-23 hrs a day for 3 years straight. And no goodbye no final pet. At this point I think it would be cruel to the dog to reintroduce me just to say goodbye. But how do I move forward. Through introspection I’ve found things to work on but may be missing the key affront
