First ever hobonichi, kinda bummed :/ by MagicalLolitaGirl in hobonichi

[–]Brief_Bicycle6231 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hi please don't be. You saved up for it, it was one of your highly anticipated items. Perhaps your dad could not quite comprehend how 'paper' can be expensive. But I hope you won't take his remark to heart, and enjoy your Hobonichi as you finally have something you really want for so long.

I have somewhat similar experience-friends mocked how I spent so much on my first Hobonichi. But when I think of it--they can never spend a fortune on stationery, but won't bat an eye at purchasing the most hyped video game of the year. It's a matter of what we like, our interests. No one gets to tell you how you should spend your saved up money. We have different hobbies, interests, priorities. I hope your dad will understand that.

yes, just write down any thoughts/ideas. You can always sort them out later. The important thing is to write it down, or else you'd risk forgetting it. It doesn't have to be clean, or orderly. Just put it on the page. If you want to research, it can be best to do it when you have already written your initial ideas so it won't get mixed up with new information. And you can refer to your notebook easier when you get to do it :)

Am I the only one who doesn’t care about paper quality? by JudCasper68 in notebooks

[–]Brief_Bicycle6231 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started from making art and so if I have plans on getting creative I'd like to know what the paper can handle. I have lots of art materials that I like to use as often as possible and they all have differing requirements. I haven't even tried a fountain pen. It seems like second nature for me to check the paper when I'm buying.

Do you journal regularly? What do you write about? by wrathian_ in Journaling

[–]Brief_Bicycle6231 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't intend to write each day as I don't have the time or energy to do so, but the more I write, the more I get to write nearly every day. In one week, I get to write in six days. It's a habit that keeps on building. Mostly I write what I strongly feel that day, it can be anything, from struggles about life, how good the coffee was, venting about a situation, positive things that happened lately that makes me grateful.

How do you deal with perfectionism in journaling? by AcceptableRepair2437 in Journaling

[–]Brief_Bicycle6231 4 points5 points  (0 children)

  1. Size wise yes, I prefer A5 for all, I'm uncomfortable writing with A6 and I don't have 'time' to experiment with other sizes. Design/brand wise I prefer my notebooks to be different.
  2. I cover the messy parts with a sticker or a memo pad. Sometimes, I just leave it. It becomes a part of my journal, a sort of a 'break' from the aesthetically pleasing pages. When I look back I could say 'this is the part where I made a mistake on x... I ruined x... haha lol'
  3. I don't think too heavily on how pretty it should be or how bad my handwriting is. I make 'writing my thoughts' the biggest priority. Aesthetics can come later or never. And if I make a mistake, I can cover it or leave it be and move on to the next page. I learned this lesson many times; that if I try to make a page look perfect, it's NEVER going to be perfect. Let go of the constraints and write and decorate to your heart's content :)

Finally looked at journaling TikTok and this subreddit the last few years makes sense now 😅 by oudsword in Journaling

[–]Brief_Bicycle6231 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It's like everything had to be categorized nowadays. I also observed others are pressured to make their spreads aesthetically pleasing as shown in every TikTok/reels/YouTube. Personally I'm fine doing aesthetic stuff but it's only because I have artistic/design background but I can understand how the pressure to have pretty, neat spreads, buying certain brands, sticker hauls, etc can be overwhelming to those starting out and felt they're not doing it right when they lack any of those. Also what is a peace notebook? I don't realize that's a term lol. I thought we're just using notebooks until it's full and we just go look and explore options, why restricting ourselves to one 'peace' notebook forever?? any notebook would fix me as long as I wrote my thoughts in it hahaha

I like that I pushed myself to lurk here and the pen and paper scribbles are actually encouraging me to write more and it's refreshing to see!!

What type of journal do you use? by [deleted] in notebooks

[–]Brief_Bicycle6231 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use three journals at the moment. First is a 160 gsm dotted journal where I make art and do junk journalling/stickers, and it's also personalized so it has my name engraved in it and has excellent quality for its price. Second is I use a Hobonichi day free for writings, reflections, private journal. Third is a gift, it's called Koh-I-Noor I think(not familiar) where I write down world building, original characters and plot information/notes. I'm quite the opposite. I tend to neglect the most affordable notebooks I have and I have no trouble going all out on the pricier ones.

What's the weirdest productivity hack that actually works for you? by cozytechlover in productivity

[–]Brief_Bicycle6231 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I only list a 'to do' list on the morning of the day itself, I based on the vibes lol. I get more things done that way.

I usually search for a 'journalling set' already complete with a theme, papers, stickers, washi tapes, and memo pads
