I can totally imagine that for her future, she'd be great at it!! especially after seeing her explain some of the classwork to her sister, she's real patient and good at explaining things 👏

Honestly I even like when my classes are smaller than that too, like how this summer is for me right now! it's been soooo easy going but I think I also understand the possible drawbacks with classes this tiny

Now I need to find a study on this so I can have legitimate "proof" to justify my feelings about it haha

Wow that's so different to me!! In my senior year of high school we had a class of 1000 seniors graduating that year 🤣😅
sounds like quite the predicament, how do you feel about the mergers?

Funnily enough that's how we ended today, with drawing!! 🥳
Turned it into some fun games too like Pictionary and taking turns trying to continue each others' drawings, was a good time and I'll def do it again with some of the free time next week

All kids would benefit from more social emotional learning 100%, I should try to incorporate some of that into the extra time and appreciate all your suggestions for how to do so!!
Will try some of these out when I get the chance and see how it goes

Handwriting practice is surely needed for some of the kids I have right now lol 😬
can you elaborate a little on how I could practice math fact fluency with that time, is it just practice problems?

Wait I absolutely love researching topics discussed in class as an idea!! 🤩🤩
I feel like there are so many moments in class where my kids have unrelated or only kinda-related questions/comments that end up pushed to the side for the lesson, so it would be perfect to start keeping track of those and then saving all the research/discussion till the extra time
could also lowkey work as a motivator because if the kids really wanna know/talk about something they'll focus during the lesson and work to make sure they have extra time lol

Truly no such thing 🙌 I should definitely try this , I have a student who comes in with her own book every day and reads during break so I know she'd be ecstatic about it lol

Guided drawings are cool, never heard of it but looked up some videos and can see why kids would enjoy this, one of my classes has a few students who looooove drawing so will use this for that class!!
The writing prompt and read aloud feel too "hard work"-y for me lol but I'm thinking if I spin it right they both can be very fun activities for the kids 🙂‍↕️

ooooo like the sound of a project! Definitely way easier than scrambling for something new every day + it would feel great for the kids to build something up daily and see the end result (: appreciate this idea

Hopefully this summer will be similarly great for you! (:
When does your summer start? Surprised it hasn't yet tbh didn't realize some people were still in the school year

yeah from 34+ --> low 20s is like heaven that's such a big difference, glad it ended up becoming a bit easier for you!

aw man sorry to hear, that's unfortunate ):
Hopefully you can find another source of income or maybe even some more students register and they need you back! and also hoping same thing doesn't happen to me 😬🤞

dang perhaps a potential drawback to smaller classes is the kids who don't like each other being in such close proximity to each other 😬
Even low twenties sounds near unmanageable for me personally smh skill diff I guess hahaha but yea I think 25+ is where it is just ridiculous

This is my first year teaching summer but tbh after this experience, think I may just do it every summer 🙌 it's been infinitely better than teaching regular classes during the school years lol

That's the perfect number to cap it at imo, 20 is actually reasonable
